Critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Will Hoge visited Nashville School of the Arts as the featured guest for its student produced program, “NSA Presents” on Friday (12/5). Launched by Julia Hoge, former counselor at NSA and Will Hoge’s wife, the program is designed to bring in artists, musicians, and actors to help students find ways to translate their passions into careers. The series is hosted by Lightning 100 On-Air Personality Wells Adams and has brought in artists including Chip Esten, Chris Young, Ruby Amanfu and more.
“NSA Presents is a great way to connect students with singer songwriters and music industry professionals. For me, taking time to talk with the students at NSA was incredibly refreshing and inspiring because they are so talented and eager to learn about careers in the music industry,” said Hoge.
During the session, Hoge gave an in-depth interview about life on the road, his path to success in music and talked about the craft of songwriting. Hoge also took part in a Q&A session with the students, participated in a trivia game and performed the Platinum-selling No. 1 smash he co-wrote “Even If It Breaks Your Heart” recorded by the Eli Young Band with NSA’s student swing band. As a tribute to Julia, the students gave an interpretive dance performance to Hoge’s song “Damn Spotlight” (Julia’s song).
NSA is the only arts magnet high school within Metro Nashville Public Schools, offering students the rare combination of rigorous, college preparatory curriculum instructed with intensely focused instruction in the performing or visual arts.

Breaking into mainstream country, the critically-acclaimed singer-songwriter has penned Lady Antebellum’s “Better Off Now (That You’re Gone),” and co-wrote the Platinum-selling No. 1 smash “Even If It Breaks Your Heart,” recorded by the Eli Young Band.
