The single, written by Nathan Chapman, Andrew Dorff, and Elizabeth Huett, is the second release from her critically acclaimed seventh studio album Slow Me Down, released earlier this year. The video, which was shot in Nashville at the historical Riverside Mansion, had Sara working again with Award-winning director Peter Zavadil (Eric Church, Lady Antebellum, Brad Paisley) who has worked with Sara on almost all of her videos including her most recent for “Slow Me Down.” Evans, who is currently on the road in support of Slow Me Down, is at her finest on this track which fans can purchase at http://smarturl.it/itunesslowmedown.
“One of the things that attracted me most to record “Put My Heart Down” was that it’s a sad song with a happy melody. I like the contradiction and I think it makes for a really interesting overall song,” said Evans. “Peter found a great way to bring that contradiction to the screen with the light bulbs and showing them eventually exploding. You have such beautiful and pretty scenes with the soft lighting and beautiful mansion, contradicted by the exploding bulbs. I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.”
Evans performed ”Put My Heart Down” on the October 29th episode of the hit ABC drama Nashville with one of the series’ leading men Luke Wheeler played by actor Will Chase, which is available now on iTunes. “Put My Heart Down” pulls fans in from the first note with its infectious melody and relatable subject matter of wanting to protect oneself in a relationship. The single is the follow-up to Slow Me Down’s title track, released earlier this Fall, which is Evans’ biggest first week Country radio Added single ever and fourteenth Top 20 single. Slow Me Down, which debuted at #2 on the Country Album Chart and landed in the Top 10 on the Billboard 200 chart, continues to win over fans and media alike being dubbed her best album to date. It is the follow-up album to 2011’s Stronger and was co-produced with Mark Bright (Reba McEntire, Rascal Flatts, and Carrie Underwood) who Evans last worked with on her Platinum-selling #1 Country album Real Fine Place (2005). Evans’ signature powerful vocals are heard on every note of Slow Me Down which serves as a reminder of why she has had a level of success reserved for few.
