awards13-hostpr-0213“The 47th Annual CMA Awards” will be hosted by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood for the sixth consecutive year and broadcast live on Wednesday, Nov. 6 (8:00-11:00 PM/ET; 7:00-10:00 PM/CT) on the ABC Television Network. “CMA Country Christmas” will tape Friday, Nov. 8 (7:00 PM/CT), for an ABC Television Network special, which will air during the holiday season.

The CMA Awards nominees and winners are determined by more than 7,000 industry professional members of CMA, which was formed in 1958 as the first trade organization to promote an individual genre of music. The first “CMA Awards Banquet and Show” was held in 1967. The following year, the CMA Awards was broadcast for the first time – making it the longest-running annual music awards program on network television. In 2006, the Awards aired on ABC for the first time. ABC will be the network home of the CMA Awards, “CMA Country Christmas,” and “CMA Music Festival: Country’s Night to Rock” through 2021.

“CMA Country Christmas,” which debuted in 2010, is a celebration of the season featuring Country’s top stars performing their favorite holiday songs and sharing their personal holiday traditions and memories.

The audience for “CMA Country Christmas” is encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy to the taping to help make the holidays brighter for a child in need. CMA launched the toy drive dubbed “A Gift For All” in 2012 and collected more than 5,000 toys.

“We are hoping that our audience will get into the spirit of the season by bringing a toy for donation,” said Ed Hardy, President of the CMA Board of Directors.  “We are honored to utilize the Christmas special taping as an opportunity to shine a light on such a worthy endeavor. It is a perfect opportunity to give back to the community and reflects the values and heart of our artists and the industry.”

The Nashville-based, non-profit group Generosity will have volunteers on site with specially marked bins to collect the new, unwrapped toys, which will be distributed to homeless families during the holidays.

Volunteers from Generosity will start accepting toys Friday, Nov. 8 at 1:00 PM/CT at the Bridgestone Arena. You do not have to have a ticket to the show to drop off a toy.

“The 47th Annual CMA Awards” and “CMA Country Christmas” are productions of the Country Music Association. Robert Deaton is the Executive Producer, Paul Miller is the Director, and David Wild is the writer. The specials will be shot in high definition and broadcast in 720 Progressive (720P), ABC’s selected HDTV format, with 5.1 channel surround sound.
