The Band Perry held a stylish brunch celebration for a packed house, full of avid fans, at their second annual “The Fans Perry” Fan Club Party at Nashville’s Mercy Lounge during CMA Music Fest. After answering questions from the media at a mini-press conference preceding the party, the trio posed for pictures and chatted with the 400 fans in attendance at the event at the end of a red carpet the fans walked (since they were the stars of the special day.) The event hall was beautifully decorated with candlelit, linen-covered tables with black velvet ribbons and pearl accents, and huge, black-and-white canvas photos of The Band Perry with messages from their CD’s title track and theme, PIONEER hung throughout the room as fans made their way around key memorabilia from the band’s career thus far. Fans snacked on sandwiches and sides and scrumptious mini-sized cupcakes in The Band Perry’s signature new Gigi’s Cupcakes flavor – Very Perry Chocolate Cherry – a confection inspired by a name from their song “I’m A Keeper” from their latest chart topping CD.
“Notes for Notes” participants started the program with a special arrangement of The Band Perry’s hit “All Your Life.” These gifted students first met The Band Perry at CMT as part of CMT’s “One Country.” The band was SO impressed with them that they invited the group to perform at the fan club event.
The brother-and-sister trio later had a bit of fun with each other during a Q&A session onstage as they drew names and fulfilled fans’ dream wishes, which included revealing funny and embarrassing stories about each other that Kimberly made fans swear “would not leave this room!” One fan’s wish to have the band pull her friend up onstage and embarrass him was fulfilled by Kimberly, who did her one better and invited her up onstage too, to give her a fun dose of her own medicine! Another’s wish was to have the band do cartwheels with fans, so four fans were brought up and an impromptu cartwheel competition was held, along with a grunting contest in a nod to the band’s latest hit single, “DONE.,” which features Kimberly’s signature “so-over-you” grunt at the end.
The Band Perry honored their fans with an awards ceremony again this year, presenting awards for various fan accomplishments and capping the ceremony with The Second Annual “Betty Lou” Award, named for their first devoted fan Betty Lou, their grandmother. Betty Lou was the very first recipient of “The Betty Lou” Award, which is given to the fan who has gone above and beyond during a calendar year. Betty Lou herself was on stage to present her namesake trophy to the deserving fan.
After hours of fun and frivolity with the eager crowd, Kimberly, Reid, and Neil strapped on their stringed instruments and accompanied themselves on a rousing, acoustic mini-set which included their chart topping #1 song, “Better Dig Two” and “DONE.,” their current chart climbing single, which featured an acoustic collaboration with Reid and Neil Perry’s co-writers John Davidson and Jacob Bryant, as onstage guests. The final song in the acoustic set was The Band Perry’s anthem and the title track of their CD, “Pioneer.” Kimberly introduced the song saying, “We wrote this song because we believe that everyone has the pioneer spirit inside of them. We come from a small town, and just because you are from humble beginnings doesn’t mean that your dreams cannot come true.”
