Despite being well into the new year, last year’s successes continue to play out for Little General Records country recording group Taylor Made, as they have been named MusicRow Magazine’s Independent Artist of the Year for 2012. The award, which is based on the greatest amount of overall spins on the MusicRow chart in 2012, label size, distribution model, and promotion staff, will be presented to the trio at MusicRow’s Country Breakout Awards show on February 26th in Nashville.
“What an honor it is to win this award. There are so many wonderful people that have helped us get to this point in our career,” said Wendy Duckworth-Williams, member of Taylor Made. “Greg Darby and Little General Records, our producer/manager Dan Mitchell, Elise Anderson with Nashville Music Media, Jason Mitchell with Nocturnal Music Group, our radio promotions team, and, of course, MusicRow and its panel of reporting stations – many of which have supported us every step of the way.”
With marked success, Taylor Made continues to promote their current single, That’s What Life Is, which holds the #44 spot on this week’s MusicRow chart.
About Taylor Made: Born and raised in Taylor County, West Virginia, sibling trio Taylor Made has been performing together since childhood. With a background in church and back porch singing, the trio reformed as I-79 for the Colgate Country Showdown. It was only a matter of time before their sibling harmonies caught the attention of Little General Stores owner Greg Darby, who signed them to his West Virginia-based Little General Records under the new name Taylor Made (after their Taylor County upbringing). In 2011, they released single Good Love off of their EP of the same title, which topped off at #42 on the Billboard Indicator chart and #28 on the MusicRow chart. Their next single, Things You Don’t Grow Out Of, took them into the top 40 on Billboard Indicator (#37) and the top 20 on Music Row (#19).
