It’s A Wonderful Time Of The Year For Kellie Pickler

Rolling Stone, Washington Post, Rhapsody, AOL’s The Boot and More Name Pickler’s 100 Proof “Best Of 2012”

Kellie PicklerSpearheaded by the release of her critically-acclaimed album 100 Proof in early January and rounded out with the signing of a new record deal with Black River Entertainment in October, the year 2012 has meant tons of excitement and career momentum for country music songstress Kellie Pickler. Now, as the nation’s top music critics reflect on what a year it’s been with their “Best Of 2012” album nods, Pickler celebrates the merriment of the season with coveted placement at the top of Rolling Stone’s “Best Country Albums of 2012” list, No. 7 on Washington Post’s “Best Music of 2012” list, No. 2 on Rhapsody’s “Top 30 Country Albums for 2012,” and No. 6 on AOL’s The Boot “Best Country Albums of 2012.” Fans can expect 2013 to also be an exciting year for Pickler as she gears up to release a new single from her forthcoming new album.

Alongside their top rating, Rolling Stone wrote, “100 Proof may be the best traditionalist album of the year. Pickler wraps her big lustrous voice around old-fashioned honky tonk, rollicking road stories and big ballads, all produced with a perfect balance of throwback twang and contemporary sheen.” Critic Chris Richards from the Washington Post added, “Pickler uses that big voice to sing big songs about no-good men, absentee parents, the ghost of Tammy Wynette and her own backbone, which suddenly sounds as if it were made of aerospace-grade titanium.” Lastly, AOL’s The Boot says, “Kellie included what are perhaps the most personal songs of her career, ‘Mother’s Day,’ and ‘The Letter (To Daddy)’, on the project, wearing her heart on her musical sleeve.”

Tim McGraw Announces More Album Details

Debut Big Machine Records Disc To Include Standard & An Accelerated Deluxe Version, in Stores Feb 5

Tim McGrawCountry music icon Tim McGraw is revealing more details about his highly anticipated release TWO LANES OF FREEDOM.  His first album for Big Machine Records will be released on Feb. 5, 2013 and is set to prove once again that on stage and on record, he remains dedicated to delivering music that is innovative, heartfelt and authentic.

“I feel like I’ve progressed in my work, and I’ve always strived to get better,” says McGraw. “On my last album, I was discovering some new sounds and new things that I wanted to do, scratching the surface of the direction I wanted to head. This album was a way to reach a little further back, to all that I’d done throughout my career, and bring both sides together—it’s a combination of that discovery, along with some rediscovery.”

On TWO LANES OF FREEDOM, the sense of nostalgia comes through on the hard-driving current single “One of Those Nights.”  The reverie of that song, though, is countered by the humor and joy of “Southern Girl” or the feel-good hangover of “Mexicoma.”  McGraw maintains that it was the album’s title track that really established the tone for the entire project.

John Corbett Delivers On New Album, “Leaving Nothin’ Behind”

New Album Available at iTunes January 29, 2013 and Drops at Retail Feb 5

No one has to tell John Corbett that Hollywood stars moonlighting as musicians don’t always get taken seriously. He’s already faced crowds full of skeptics wearing expectant looks that silently challenge, “All right, actor boy, show us what you’ve got.”

But Corbett’s never had a problem doing just that, onstage with his band or on radio airwaves. His self-titled debut album, released in 2006, climbed to No. 42 on Billboard’s Country Albums chart, surprising even the guy who rose to fame as Cicely, Alaska’s resident radio deejay on the “Northern Exposure” TV series (and made women swoon in “Sex and the City” and “My Big Fat Greek Wedding”).
With his new album, Leaving Nothin’ Behind, on his own Funbone Records label, Corbett confirms what fans of John Corbett quickly recognized: He was never just moonlighting in the first place. Growing up in the shadow of Wheeling, W.Va.’s famed Capitol Music Hall, just a few miles from where Brad Paisley was raised, music was always Corbett’s first love. He’s been playing since he can remember.

“I never for a second dreamed that I could make a living making music, except probably when I was a freshman in high school and would daydream about what it would be like to be in Kiss or Styx or something,” he admits, laughing. “But I always had a guitar with me.”
