Follows up with TODAY Show performance of “God Bless The USA” to celebrate the naturalization of newest US citizens
Multi-platinum country star and true American Patriot, Lee Greenwood, will be joining more than 90 nationally known authors at the National Press Club’s 35th Annual Book Fair & Authors’ Night on Tuesday, November 13, 2012. Greenwood will be signing copies of his new book, “Does God Still Bless the U.S.A.? A Plea for a Better America” – his latest offering of personal insights into America’s challenges and her future. The Book Fair & Authors’ Night benefits the non-profit National Press Club Journalism Institute, which provides college scholarships, training for journalists and awards for excellence in journalism. The NPC is partnering again this year with The SEED Foundation, which helps prepare underserved students for college success at public boarding schools in the District of Columbia and Maryland.
Greenwood will appear on the TODAY Show Friday, November 16 where he will take a special role in the lives of 25 people as he participates in their naturalization ceremony to become United States citizens. Perfectly fitting to the occasion, he will perform “God Bless The USA”. The patriotic anthem, which turns 30 next year, went far beyond what Greenwood expected when he wrote the song in the back of his tour bus in 1983. Greenwood says; “USA is the song I always felt the need to write. I wanted to have something that would unite Americans from coast to coast. I wanted to instill pride back in the United States. The song represents my family, my community and those men & women who have paid the price for the freedoms we all love & enjoy.”
