August 29, 2012 – Multi-platinum Country superstar Martina McBride announced today that she will make a special trip to New York City on Thursday, August 30 to visit her good friend and host of ABC’s Good Morning America, Robin Roberts. During the 8am hour, Martina will perform her Grammy-nominated hit song “I’m Gonna Love You Through It”for Roberts who announced earlier this week that she will be taking medical leave for a bone marrow transplant and treatment for MDS.Martina will also unveil on the show a new partnership she will take part in this September and October to further raise awareness about breast cancer.
Martina’s visit to the GMA studio comes one year after Roberts joined Martina in Nashville to film the music video for “I’m Gonna Love You Through It.” The song and video instantly became an anthem for cancer survivors and their supporters when it was released in August of 2011. The video features real life cancer survivors and supporters and includes appearances by Robin Roberts, Hoda Kotb, Katie Couric and Sheryl Crow. In February of this year, Martina’s performance of “I’m Gonna Love You Through It” was recognized with a Grammy-nomination in the category of “Best Country Solo Performance.” The song was also a Top 5 hit on the Country radio charts.
“It meant the world to me when Robin joined me in Nashville for the music video. She is an inspiration to me, my family and my fans. I can’t wait to see her on Thursday to give her a big hug and perform for her. It’s an honor,” said Martina.
