It’s a rare treat to interview a seasoned professional such as Dan Rather. His voice was a rich and lovely caramel tone putting all who listened at comfort and ease. We understand why some of the biggest stars in entertainment history talk to him in the second season of (Mark Cuban’s Show) “The Big Interview”.
A few favorite quotes from Dan on his star-studded lineup include: Steve Perry “was… introspective” Ringo Starr, “always looked you in the eye” Cindy Lauper “naturally curious” let the lighting guys know how to handle a bounce, and Jack White, was “so smart” a fact Nashville already long-knows. Rather said Rob Reiner “exercises out of bed in the morning” and he didn’t want Sammy Hagar’s interview to end. (We’re still wondering if Sammy’s has subtitles?) FOCUS on the 615 couldn’t resist asking Dan’s country-legend wish list, at which point he listed Alan, Garth, Miranda, Tim and Zac Brown. (list alphabetized by FOCUS)
In closing, Dan, in his Dan Rather-voice says, “I was a working reporter that got lucky”. About to turn 88 in October, he felt “dumb as a rock at times, but so grateful to do what I love.” He also went on to say that he’s “concerned about who we are becoming and the threat of nuclear annihilation. If we stay straight and focus on what unites us, we will be all right…. We need to work at it. It may be a valley in history but we will come out the other end steady.” Doesn’t sound dumb to FOCUS on 615.
