On Thursday, October 12th, several members from the cast of Cavalia’s Odysseo stopped by to visit children and their parents at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.
They were treated to some acrobatics, dancing, and African drums from members of the show. Also, other members of the cast (riders and aerialists) were there in full costume to visit and hand out cute stuffed horses to the children.
While there, members from the cast were interviewed in Seacrest Studios to be broadcast all around the children’s hospital so those not in attendance were given a chance to experience some of the visit.
Cavalia’s Odysseo has been so generous in giving back to our community while here for their brief time in Nashville. This is something that is important to them to do in each city around the world that the tour stops in. I have been lucky enough to witness some of what they do first hand, like when they brought children from the Tennessee School for the Blind for a special sensory tour to their performance facility, the White Big Top, off Briley Parkway in Nashville last month, and now the visit to see the children at Vanderbilt Medical Center. They are always so gracious and generous with their time–bringing gifts and offering tickets to see their production, as well. It’s been heartwarming to see the smiles brought to these children’s faces who are facing overwhelming challenges in their lives.
Sadly, Cavalia’s Odysseo is only in town for a few more days through October 22nd, then they will be heading out to California for a run of shows. It’s been an absolute pleasure having them in town with their spectacular production. If you have not had an opportunity to see the show, you better grab your tickets quick before they completely sell out and finish their run here in Nashville. If you’ve wondered what that big white top is on Briley Parkway near Gaylord Opryland, well now you know!
