CMT recently celebrated their next class of female country artists at City Winery in Nashville this past November with their annual “Next Women Of Country”.
This yearly event was started by CMT’s Leslie Fram with its first class of rising country females in 2013. It is meant to provide a platform and support for new female country artists, as country radio in the last few years has become increasing difficult for new female artists to break through. CMT is working to try to change that.
Aubrie Sellers, Maddie & Tae, Kree Harrison, Maggie Rose, Mickey Guyton, Tara Thompson, Lauren Alaina, Lindsay Ell, Lucie Silvas, Margo Price, and RaeLynn each performed in acoustic rounds.
The newest additions to CMT’s “Next Women Of Country” are Margo Price, Maggie Rose, Lucie Silvas, Logan Brill, Jillian Jacqueline, Kree Harrison, Caitlyn Smith, and Jamie Lynn Spears. For the first time since its inception, female vocal groups were included in this year’s class: Post Monroe and Runaway June.
Martina McBride was announced as the next headliner of the “Next Women Of Country” tour beginning in 2017 with Lauren Alaina as the opening act.
We can’t wait to hear more from all of these ladies!
