I recently had the opportunity to meet and listen to some music by new Black River recording artist, Glen Templeton, inside the offices of Black River Entertainment. He was just signed to Black River Entertainment this past summer. Some might remember Glen most recently from the Conway Twitty Musical when he starred as Conway Twitty himself. He got his start here by playing some of the honky tonks down on Broadway in Nashville like the famous Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge where so many of country music’s musical legends stepped through its doors after performing at the Ryman Auditorium (the original home of the Grand Ole Opry). Not an easy thing to do since it requires being able to capture and hold a loud, rowdy crowd’s attention, in addition to its historical significance in country music.
Glen credits his dad who turned him on to people like Conway Twitty, George Jones, Waylon Jennings, and Merle Haggard as his musical influences. He’s got a strong voice very similar to his musical influences so you can clearly see/hear the impact they’ve had on his music, and has just recently released his first single to radio “I Could Be The One“. It’s a catchy, uptempo song about the possibilities of love.
Check out the video below for a few performance clips and when I had a chance to sit down to talk with him to get to know a little bit more about him! Glen’s a fun guy and a cutie, too! I’m sure you’ll be hearing more great things to come from him in the very near future and plans to release his first album in late 2011 or early 2012.
