Performance rights organizations ASCAP, BMI and SESAC hosted a #1 party on Wed., July 20th at South in Nashville to celebrate Dierks Bentley’s 14th #1 song, “Somewhere on a Beach,” which dominated the top spot on both the Billboard Country Airplay and Mediabase radio charts for two consecutive weeks. A packed-to-capacity crowd turned out to congratulate four first-time #1 songwriters, ASCAP’s Dave Kuncio and Josh Mirenda, BMI’s Alexander Palmer, and SESAC’s Michael Tyler, as well as SESAC writer Jaron Boyer, who was honored for his second chart-topper. Ross Copperman and Arturo Buenahora produced the Gold-certified track, which serves as the lead single from Bentley’s best-selling album, Black (Capitol Records Nashville).
