NASHVILLE, Tenn. (April 24, 2025) – Country duo SmithField delivered a standout performance at the grand finale of American Songwriter’s Road Ready Talent Contest, held at The Basement East on Tuesday night. The event featured SmithField amongst three finalists. The audience proved that it was tough competition, with each of the performers gaining massive support during their sets.

SmithField, known for their dynamic harmonies and heartfelt songwriting, captivated the audience with a set that showcased both their decade of fan favorites and fresh new material. Their performance was a highlight of the evening, demonstrating the duo’s growth and resonance with fans.

“We were the first runners up out of 14,000 submissions! It’s a noteworthy accomplishment for us and we are beyond proud to be the only act representing country music in the finals of this contest. We would like to thank our fans for placing over 36,000 votes for us!” said SmithField.

The duo is fresh off the release of their new single “Heaven Has A Grand Ole Opry” last Friday, which they performed live for the first time on Tuesday during the competition. The heartfelt track pays tribute to the legends of country music and imagines a heavenly stage where the greats of the genre still perform, making it a powerful nod to the genre’s rich legacy. Today, March 1, the rising duo performs on NBC’s TODAY IN NASHVILLE which aired today. Click HERE to see their performance. Smithfield, one of Sirius XM’s prestigious picks for a “Highway Find”, will perform Saturday night at the GRAND OLE OPRY along with a star-studded lineup that includes Alison Krauss, Old Crow Medicine Show, Jeannie Seely, Brandon Lay, Riders In the Sky and more. Immediately following they will be featured on the Opry’s Facebook Live series OPRY ENCORE where they will perform. Smithfield will sign copies of their EP in the Opry Shop immediately following the Opry show at 9:15 PM.

Next week Smithfield will be part of another star-studded lineup for the prestigious Nashville House Concert at War Memorial Auditorium hosted by Sirius XM personality Storme Warren.

Smithfield teamed to work with multi Grammy-award winning producer/songwriter Seth Mosley and Mike “X.” O’Connor produced and co-wrote the EP. Their credits including producing albums for Francesca Battistelli, for KING & COUNTRY, Newsboys, Mandisa, Tyminski, Jaci Velasquez and another country duo High Valley among many others.

 

The new single, “Our World,” is at country radio now. “Our World,” written by Jaden Michaels, Jordan Minton and Ben Johnson, is available now at all digital retailers. “Our World” was produced by David Fanning.

 

“Our World,” an anthemic song capturing the feelings of youth and being invincible against the world, again embraces their unique energy-charged and unparalleled vocal chemistry between the longtime childhood friends Trey Smith and Jennifer Fielder. Trey’s rock-influenced vocals blending with the sounds of Jennifer’s classic country influences add an even deeper dimension to the lyrics and energy in their new single “Our World.”

‘Sounds Like Nashville’ Debuts Behind-the-Scenes Footage

Billboard’s ‘You Should Know’ country duo Smithfield, is world premiering the music video for “When You’re Gone” exclusively on CMT Music today. The video, directed by Tim Duggan (Sturgill Simpson, The Delta Saints), was shot at Dee’s Country Cocktail Lounge in Madison, TN and follows three couples of different ages as they enjoy a night out on the town. The video will air at 6:56am (Premiere), 10:58am, 12:56pm, 2:37pm, 4:57pm, 6:58pm (Primetime), 8:38pm and 10:57pm CT today and can be seen on CMT.com HERE.
