CMT “Vote For Your Life” Traveling Billboard To Support Presidential Debate Tonight

This election season, CMT is going all in to turn out the younger country music audience utilizing digital reach and platforms. As part of the Vote For Your Life campaign, CMT commissioned a traveling billboard will travel in and around Nashville ahead of the debate tonight through “Vote Early Day” on 10/24. The truck will be branded Vote For Your Life and feature messages from country superstars on repeat throughout the day as it travels around high-traffic areas of Nashville, college campuses, and the Debate Hall. Tennessee has one of the lowest voting rates in the country and CMT’s goal is to get country music fans thinking about voting and casting their ballots early.

WHEN

4:30PM CT – 6:30PM CT

WHERE

The CMT traveling billboard will be driving in and around all streets surrounding the Belmont University campus (1900 Belmont Blvd, Nashville, TN 37212).

WHY

Amidst these unprecedented times, CMT, in tandem with ViacomCBS, has launched the Vote For Your Life campaign. The reach of this campaign is huge and CMT is a core partner in garnering an audience that other corporate brands cannot reach.  The campaign helped found “Vote Early Day” on Saturday, October 24th in order to engage Americans in learning about their early voting options. This first-ever civic holiday dedicated to early voting launched prior to COVID as early voting upticks began to show an upward trend in recent election years.

MORE INFORMATION

On Vote Early Day, CMT will host a full day 12-hour country music video marathon on CMT digital channels that features clips from Nashville’s own about the importance of voting, We will be joined by a fresh crop of over 25 breakthrough artists, encouraging Americans to get out and vote, a topic which historically country artists have avoided. CMT will have a final activation this Saturday, October 24th at the public art chalk display at Shelby Park in Nashville. For more information please visit www.VoteForYourLife.com

2020 CMT Music Awards Recap

Morgan Wallen performs inside a cave near Nashville for CMT Music Awards.

This year has been so different in every way, including the 2020 CMT Music Awards held last night in Nashville and surrounding areas, not only for the audience, but for the artists, as well.  Hosted by Sarah Hyland, Kane Brown, and Ashley McBryde, what sets it apart from the ACM Awards and CMA Awards is it is the only country music awards show that is fully fan voted.

Usually, the CMT Music Awards are held one day prior to the start of CMA Music Festival in June at Bridgestone Arena in front of a full audience with most of the country music industry in attendance.  This year, there was no red carpet, no live audience, and no press at any of the various on-site locations.

There was a Ram Trucks sponsored fan viewing party with several emerging artists (Mickey Guyton, Travis Denning, Ingrid Andress, Caylee Hammack, Riley Green, and HARDY) that a few lucky fans got to attend outside in downtown Nashville near the Cumberland River.  Production staff was very careful to make sure all wore masks, socially distanced, no large crowd, and held outside.  It looked like a fun time for those in attendance for some great performances from the Ram Trucks stage.  You can view full performances from each of the artists HERE.

Opening the night was a fun collaboration with Luke Combs and Brooks & Dunn singing “1, 2 Many” live together for the first time.

Just so many standout moments from the night like Breakthrough Video of the Year winner, Gabby Barrett, with her #1 hit, “I Hope”.   Ashley McBryde always brings something special to every performance.   live from Switzerland.  Jennifer Nettles being honored with the first CMT Equal Play award as an advocate for the women of country music who have been struggling for the last several years to be heard on country radio.

Carrie Underwood ended up, unsurprisingly, being the biggest winner of the night winning both Female Video of the Year and Video of the Year.

Little Big Town wrapped up the night with their newest release, “Wine, Beer, Whiskey”.  There were so many standout performances, but this was my favorite of the night.  I love their fine-tuned harmonies, their energy, and this song is a jam that I want to keep on repeat.  A clip of their performance is below, but for the full performance, go HERE.

The CMT Music Awards is always one of my favorite events of the year.  Even though 2020 with the pandemic changed many things, it was still a night to remember.  Great production and performances.

New To Nashville: Lucky Bastard Saloon And Nashville Hot Chicken Shack

Hot chicken at Nashville Hot Chicken Shack on rooftop of Lucky Bastard Saloon. Photo credit: Isaac Lord

It has been a tumultuous time this summer for businesses on Nashville’s Broadway strip, causing a questionable future for most of downtown’s restaurants and bars.

Located in the former Bailey’s Sports Grille building at 408 Broadway, Lucky Bastard Saloon continues to breathe some encouraging new life downtown with exceptional live music and food!

Upon arriving, we were impressed with the spaciousness and table distancing measures taken into account.  Nashville Hot Chicken Shack (located on the rooftop) was what we came to experience, but the energy of the live music was a refreshing reminder of what this city is all about.

Hot chicken is not meant to be fancy or complicated and that is exactly what the menu reflects.  We started with the Nashville Beer Queso and some fried pickle spears, with full intent of collaborating the two.  The pickles were packed with crisp, crunchy freshness and the queso was incredible, spiked with roasted green chiles, tomatoes, chipotle peppers and beer. Topped with habanero hot sauce and fresh cilantro, served with a side of tortilla chips. The ultimate test though, dipping the pickles in the queso….You have to try it!!

We decided to try the mildest and the hottest of the tenders.  With an array of sides to choose from, we ordered the black-eyed-pea salad, fries and the hot mac-n-cheese.  The chicken was not miserably hot, but definitely packs its own punch.  Both the mild and hot tenders were moist, delicious and breaded to perfection.

Instagram will load in the frontend.

With a diverse enough menu that includes building your own burger, catfish and one entree called the Nashville Hangover (a waffle topped with Nashville Hot Chicken tenders, and two fried eggs sunny side up. Served with a side of pecan honey butter and syrup) even if you are not a fan of hot chicken, there are still quite a few options to choose from.

The service was spot on and we enjoyed our first Friday night downtown in months! Thank you to the Lucky Bastard Saloon and Nashville Hot Chicken Shack for taking such great care of us!

CMA Fest Cancelled For 2020

After careful deliberation, and in following the latest guidance from national, state and local authorities, we are sad to announce that CMA Fest will not take place in 2020.

Whether you planned to attend CMA Fest for the first time, or you have attended many times throughout the last 48 years, we know how special this festival is for Country Music fans around the globe and that many will be disappointed by this decision. As the world is still greatly affected by the spread of COVID-19, we cannot in good conscience risk the health and wellbeing of our fans, artists, staff and Country Music community.

We will honor four-day passes purchased for this year’s event for CMA Fest 2021. However, if you prefer a full refund, we will provide one upon request if your passes were purchased through Ticketmaster or the CMA Fest Box Office. Those who purchased passes through non-official channels should contact the seller directly. Within the next 24-48 hours, all four-day pass purchasers will receive an email with further instructions.

We greatly appreciate your understanding and patience, as our actions are always in the best interest of our Country Music community. In the coming weeks and months, we will continue to bring Country fans and artists together to celebrate the unique spirit and sense of unity that is at the heart of what CMA Fest stands for. We will also share information about future CMA events and ways to support those within our community affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Please keep yourself and your loved ones healthy and safe, and we hope you will join us for CMA Fest next year, June 10-13, 2021.

STYX Brings 2020 World Tour To Historic Ryman Auditorium This Spring

STYX,the first band in rock history to land four consecutive certified multi-million selling albums in a row, has announced its highly anticipated return to Nashville‘s historic Ryman Auditorium on Saturday, May 23.The concert stop in Music City is part of the group’s 2020 World Tour.

Tickets for An Evening with STYX go on sale this Friday, February 28 at 10 a.m. / CT and will be available for purchase at Ticketmaster.com, STYXWorld.com and the Ryman Auditorium box office.

The six men comprising STYX have committed to “Rockin’ the Paradise” together with audiences far and wide by entering their second decade of averaging over 100 shows a year. Each band member is determined to make the next show better than the last.

“Standing on the wood floor of the Ryman, especially center stage, it’s impossible to resist thinking about all the legendary artists and important music that’s been performed there over the years,” says STYX frontman and guitarist Tommy Shaw. “It’s an honor to return and offer up another night of STYX music as we rock those historic walls, halls, pews and windows. Come join us!”

About STYX
STYXdraws from over four decades of barn-burning chart hits, joyous singalongs, and hard-driving deep cuts. Like a symphony that builds to a satisfying crescendo, a STYXset covers a wide range of stylistic cornerstones. From the progressively sweeping splendor that is “The Grand Illusion” to the hunker-down fortitude of all that is the “Blue Collar Man,” from the majestic spiritual love for a special “Lady” to the poignant rumination on the fleeting nature of fame in “Miss America,” from an individual yearning for true connection as a “Man in the Wilderness” to a soul-deep quest to achieve what’s at the heart of one’s personal vision in “Crystal Ball,” from the regal reach-for-the-stars bravado of “Come Sail Away” to the grainy all-in gallop of that rugged “Renegade” who had it made, STYXdraws on an unlimited cache of ways to immerse one’s mind and body in their signature sound.

After 14 years, STYX’s sonically sweet 16th studio album and its most ambitious, most challenging, and most rewarding album to date, THE MISSION, was finally released June 16, 2017 on the band’s label, Alpha Dog 2T/UMe. The highly anticipated two-disc reissue of THE MISSION was released on July 27, 2018 via Alpha Dog 2T/UMe, which includes a CD of the original album, as well as a Blu-ray of THE MISSION mixed in 5.1 Surround Sound accompanied by stunning visualizations for each of the album’s 14 songs based on the album artwork. THE MISSION originally debuted on various Billboard charts, including: #6 Top Rock Albums, #11 Physical Albums, #11 Vinyl Albums, #13 Current Albums, #14 Billboard Top Albums, #16 Retail, #17 Mass Merch/Non-Traditional, #29 Digital Albums, and #45 Billboard 200 (includes catalog and streaming).

Tommy Shaw, James “JY” Young, Lawrence Gowan, Todd Sucherman and Ricky Phillips (along with the occasional surprise appearance by original bassist Chuck Panozzo), have performed more live since ’99 than all of the previous years of its career combined. Two Super Bowl appearances, Pollstar Box Office chart-topping tours with Def Leppard, Journey, Boston, REO Speedwagon, Bad Company (to name only a few), two more studio albums and no end in sight, STYX continues to conquer the planet, one venue at a time.
