Get To Know New Artist Hayden Haddock With This Q&A

Learn all about new artist, Hayden Haddock, with this Q&A.

Q: You are currently busy touring, recording and are a full time student at Texas A&M. How do you juggle it all?

It definitely gets tough sometimes, but just basic time management is key. I try to just get all my school work done during the week to leave the weekends free for touring.

Q: With Type 1 diabetes, how do you maintain a healthy lifestyle while on the road?

Luckily, i’ve had plenty of time to adapt to having T1D since I was diagnosed at 8 years old. I try to just make health conscious decisions when it comes to eating, but that doesn’t mean I say no to a good ole Whataburger!

Q: What is your go to snack when touring?

My go to snack on the road would have to be Cheeto Hot Fries and a Bang energy drink.

Q: What is your favorite song to play at your live show?

My favorite song to play live would have to be “Don’t Bother Calling” off of my EP or a new song called “Where You Come In”!

Q: You are currently in the studio working on your sophomore project with Trent Willmon. What has been the most exciting part of the recording process for you so far?

My favorite part of recording is definitely tracking day with the band. I love it because you get to hear your songs take on a whole new personality and really come to life.

Q: What was it like writing with HIT songwriters during your first trip to Nashville?

It was a little intimidating, honestly. I don’t think of myself as a great songwriter yet, so I was just so fortunate to be able to learn from those guys and help better myself as a songwriter.

Q: What can fans expect from your next record?

This next project will definitely top the last, as it should. It is 100% true, authentic country music which is what I stand for. I think every song on this next record has the potential to be a hit!

Q: Since you are also a full time student, what is your favorite course you are currently taking?

I’m not a big fan of school (don’t tell my parents) but if I have to choose I would say Materials and Methods just because it’s teaching me things that can actually be used in everyday life.

Q: What is the most exciting show/venue you have played so far?

My favorite show has probably been playing at The Rustic Dallas. It was a packed house, a very interactive crowd, and I had a lot of old friends show up which was pretty cool.

Q: When can we expect the new music?

We are shooting to have the new record out by early January of 2020. We just might release a single before then, so stay tuned for that!

Q: Lastly, since we are Focus on the 615, what is your favorite restaurant in Nashville?

I have been to a lot of great restaurants there, but I think my favorite would have to be Kayne Prime!

Julie Roberts To Release “I Couldn’t Make You Love Me” Available Digitally On May 17

On the heels of her revealing autobiography, Beauty in the Breakdown, Julie Roberts is back with new music. Singing about love, loss, roots, and dogged determination in a voice that’s never sounded bigger, Roberts’ new single, “I Couldn’t Make You Love Me,” produced by the legendary Rudy Perez, will be released May 17 on all digital and streaming platforms.

“It’s a song of strength, but also vulnerability”, explains Roberts. “Like so many of us, I’ve taken life in my two hands and created my own story. But no matter what mountains we climb in life, we can’t make someone love us. Rudy Perez, Mark Portmann, and the great John Bettis captured all of that in this song and I’m forever grateful to them.”

Roberts pours her heart into the empowering lyrics, (I have learned I can stand alone/ When the wind has turned against me/ I still made my way home/ Every bridge I crossed/ And didn’t mind the cost,) delivering a raw and soulful vocal.

Perez, a past recipient of Billboard’s producer of the decade award, has worked with everyone from Christina Aguilera to Beyonce, Luis Fonsi, and the legendary Sam Moore. “I jumped at the opportunity to work with Julie.  There are very few vocalists that have her mix of power, soul, and vulnerability all at the same time.”

The latest song is just the beginning of a new collection of music from the country star. Fans can find out more from Roberts on Thursday, May 16 at 8 p.m. ET/ 7 p.m. CT on Facebook Live.  To sample and pre-save “I Couldn’t Make You Love Me”, click HERE.

Lucie Silvas Releases “Black Jeans” Music Video Via Billboard!

“..suspends temperate touches of Laurel Canyon-style psychedelia in a sublime, cinematic haze…” [‘Black Jeans’] – NPR

“Silvas’ vocal power and retro-minded influences – Motown, gospel and smoky soul, align her with show-stopping singers like Adele… positioning her as one of the strongest (and most original) voices” -Rolling Stone

“…addresses the pressures of living up to unreal expectations, especially for women…” [‘Black Jeans’] -Associated Press

(Nashville, TN-March 4, 2019)—Critically acclaimed artist Lucie Silvas releases the music video for her newest single “Black Jeans” via Billboard today. For the video, Lucie once again paired up with Jarrad K, who previously directed her video for “Kite.” Click HERE to view!

Slipping into a soulful cadence on the track, the singer’s dusty delivery evoke sixties Southern California spirit by way of Nashville. Arustle of slide guitar punctuates delicate acoustic strumming as she croons, “When I’m wearing my black jeans, maybe you won’t even recognize me, and you know I won’t just take a backseat.” An album favorite, NPR claimed that it, “suspends temperate touches of Laurel Canyon-style psychedelia in a sublime cinematic haze… and depicts the numbed self- preservation required for a woman to pursue desirability.”

A rafter-reaching vocalist, impressive multi-instrumentalist, and candid narrator, Lucie Silvas continues to endear, entrance, and engage audiences around the globe. Most recently, her 2018 offering, E.G.O., attracted widespread critical acclaim. It debuted on the coveted NPR First Listen feature, while Billboard touted her “wide stylistic reach.” Rolling Stone Country extolled how “Silvas’ vocal power and retro-minded influences – Motown, Gospel and Smoky Soul – align her with show- stopping singers like Adele…positioning her as one of the strongest (and most original) voices.” Representing a cross-section of roots, rock, pop, jazz, soul, and country, E.G.O. marks the dawn of her brightest and boldest chapter yet.

Lucie is currently on tour in North America through the summer.  See the full routing for dates below and click HERE for more info!

Chelsea Bain Releases “Take It Like A Man”

(Nashville, Tennessee…) – February 5, 2019 – Turn 3 Records artist Chelsea Bain has released her latest single, “Take It Like A Man,” which she wrote with Rachel Farley, Michael Tyler and Ben Stennis. She recently shot a music video for the single, and it will begin hitting the airwaves later this month.

“The message of the song is that women and men both have the same emotions,” said Chelsea. “No one feels more or less than the other. We all search for a song that says something that’s never been said, and I feel like this is one of those rare songs. This song has a lot of meaning for me, and I think the meaning is universal.”

Chelsea will appear on Devon O’Day’s “Nashville Today” show on WSM-AM this Thursday, February 7 and will visit the Ty Bentli Show to write and perform a song as part of the show’s popular “10 Minute Tune” segment the morning of the 8th.

She has a rare Nashville performance set for Friday, February 19 at The Cowan music venue in Topgolf. The no-cover show will benefit the Nashville Humane Association, and attendees are asked to bring a can of dog or cat food as admission.

Chelsea was most recently the USO’s January Artist of the Month, which included a special performance for 280 service members and families of deployed troops at USO Ft. Campbell.

Sofar Sounds Teams With Xfinity And Multi-Platinum Selling Artist Dinah Jane For The “Future Of Awesome Tour”

After kicking off “The Future of Awesome Tour” in NYC, Nashville was the second destination to host the monthly 12 city event series for December.  In conjunction with the rapidly growing London founded brand Sofar Sounds, it only seemed fitting for Nashville to be included, based on how Sofar Sounds originated: Providing a respectful and intimate setting for artists to showcase in front of attentive listeners.

Intentionally choosing smaller venues, the Center 615 Gallery was extremely well attended with a relatively diverse crowd of music lovers.  The casual “blankets on the floor, bring your small cooler” approach is what makes these events so inviting.  No pretense.  No elaborate production.  Just raw talent and music lovers united.

There definitely isn’t a shortage of compelling artists to choose from in Nashville and the selected line-up for this show made quite an impact.

Keeping things relevant, Kylie Frey opened the show with her ambient “smart country” style. Kylie was one of the recent finalists on the hit USA Network show, “Real Country”.  Her 3 piece acoustic live approach included pedal steel, bass and guitar.  With swirling vocal harmonies and clever melodic movement, Frey’s simple songwriting and powerful performance was impactful and moving. One of the songs that stood out from the former rodeo queen was “Rodeo Queen Without a Crown”.

You can check her out at www.kyliefrey.com

Next we were delighted to hear something a little different from the female duo, The Daily Fare.  Catching us off guard a bit with a rendition of “Son of a Preacher Man”, the dramatic presentation in a minor key definitely showcased their blend of contemporary blues and indie folk rock.  Their acoustic driven performance was extremely expressive, giving a truly heartfelt delivery.  Their songwriting definitely has purpose and meaning.  If Patty Griffin needs a solid opening act, The Daily Fare would be the perfect support.  For more info go to www.thedailyfaremusic.com.

Closing the show, The Vegabonds confidently took the stage with their blend of 70s southern rock (The Allman Brothers, The Eagles) and crossover pop country.  The amount of experience this group has is evident in their live performances, being together as a unit for 10 years and touring consecutively 200 dates out of the year.  Another vocally oriented group, the sound they create being a 3 piece is impressive.  This Alabama bred, Nashville-based group has new music releasing in January, so to dial in with them you can go to www.thevegabonds.com.

“Sofar is committed to showcasing emerging artists all over the world, and we are excited to partner with Xfinity to support that mission in an authentic way to bring even more awareness to our artist community,” said Ellis Reid, global partnerships director at Sofar Sounds. “We’re privileged to have Dinah Jane curating the performers from our vast network of musicians. She is an amazing talent with diverse musical sensibilities that truly adds another layer of credibility to this partnership.”

For those who aren’t able to attend in person, Comcast will launch a special destination on Xfinity X1, Comcast’s video service that allows users to search and navigate live TV, on demand movies and shows, web video, and apps like Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, YouTube, Pandora, NPR, Sling TV, and iHeartRadio, all on a single, voice-controlled platform.  Throughout the “Future of Awesome Tour,”  Xfinity X1 will allow customers to gain access over the Internet to behind-the-scenes content via YouTube from both Jane and her hand-picked Sofar artists.  They can also keep up with the latest on the tour by following @dinahjane97, @sofarsounds and @Xfinity on social media.

Music is an emerging category for Xfinity, bolstered by both a growing collection of X1 partners like Pandora, iHeart Radio, YouTube and NPR, and through curated Xfinity On Demand destinations to help customers discover and enjoy all the great content available to them.

“Music fans rely on technology more than ever to discover new artists, share music and connect with one another on social media,” said Matt Lederer, executive director of partnership marketing at Comcast.  “Our partnership with Sofar Sounds and Dinah Jane gives us a chance to support emerging artists and bring their music into living rooms across the country through the combination of the fast Internet and a one-of-a-kind Xfinity X1 experience. Together, we’re helping them unlock the latest music while supporting emerging artists on their journey to success.”

For Jane – who first gained notoriety as a contestant on “The X Factor” and as a member of the award-winning group Fifth Harmony — that journey of establishing herself as an artist is still fresh in her mind.  As someone who received mentorship and guidance from industry veterans on the show, she is eager to pay it forward.

“I’m excited to partner with Sofar Sounds and Comcast to introduce music fans across the U.S. to some of the newest voices of our generation on Xfinity’s ‘Future of Awesome Tour,’” said Jane, 21, who will be making appearances in select cities. “Having the opportunity to do so means a lot to me because I was in their shoes as a new artist just a few short years ago. With the support of Xfinity and Sofar Sounds, we’ll be able to showcase these artists’ raw vocal abilities, musicianship and passion for performing.”

In 2019, Xfinity’s “Future of Awesome Tour” will connect music fans to emerging talent in the following cities:

•Atlanta

•Berkeley (Calif.)

•Boston

•Burlington (Vt.)

•Chicago

•Denver

•Detroit

•Philadelphia

•Portland

•Washington, D.C.

Delta Rae Empowers Fans To Get Their “Hands Dirty”

Delta Rae has never shied away from speaking their minds, especially on tough subjects. Holljes siblings Brittany, Ian and Eric were raised to educate themselves on issues affecting their community, watching their feminist mother call for change in spite of public berating. The lead-by-example message stuck with them and bandmates Liz Hopkins, Grant Emerson and Mike McKee as a cornerstone of their group – to make music that matters on whatever platforms available. As political tensions rise, the #MeToo Movement unfolds and new generations head to the polls, the six-piece knows the importance of getting your “Hands Dirty.” Brittany (lead vocals) and Ian (vocals, guitar) penned the song to implore fellow “persistent resistors” to plead for social equality and activism. Get “Hands Dirty” now at digital retailers: https://DeltaRae.lnk.to/HandsDirtyPR.

Sharing the genesis of “Hands Dirty” with fans through a personal essay, Brittany explains how through dark times she found strength. She hopes these words will ultimately encourage people to get out and vote for the midterm elections next month, empowering marginalized groups.

I have seen the other side of the mountain
Where every queen will be afforded her throne
And I will stand beside my sisters
And all persistent resistors
They’ll say I knew it would come true
And I’ll say darling, Me Too.

I was sexually assaulted when I was 13. I won’t go into the details, even though I remember them and the trauma vividly. My adrenaline kicks in, even now, thinking about it 16 years later. When it happened, the first person I confided in was my friend Liz, who was like a big sister to me. She told me to tell my brothers, Ian and Eric, and they urged me to tell our parents. I did. A year later I dropped out of high school. I went to community college and graduated from UC Berkeley before eventually moving to North Carolina, into a big house in the middle of the woods with Ian, Eric, and Liz, and finding our rhythm section, Mike and Grant. That fall we started Delta Rae, and my whole life changed.

But, I can’t say I never looked back. I will never be able to forget the assault. My life changed then too. I was lucky to be believed and to have the support of my close friends and family. And I, like most women who say “Me Too,” didn’t quit on myself after the first assault or after countless other times experiencing misogyny, harassment or violence since. We just keep working.

My brother and I wrote “Hands Dirty” because women in America are doing just that every day – tirelessly working at our jobs, pursuing our education, running for office in record numbers in the 2018 election. We create beautiful art, raise children, start businesses, teach young people, save lives. We keep pursuing our goals as though nothing is wrong, but something IS deeply wrong.

One in three women have been the victim of sexual violence.* On top of what we are trying to accomplish as individuals, we are still fighting collectively to be seen as human beings. As equals. Women are not victims, but we have been victimized. But the even more complex truth is that it’s not just women who are being abused. One in six men also experience sexual violence, and the likelihood grows based on your economic status, race, sexual orientation, disabilities or whether you’re an immigrant.*

The real fight is not between genders. The fight is against institutional corruption that reinforces toxic masculinity and ignores or excuses sexual violence. That’s why we need to all rally together as a united front to dismantle a broken system and disrupt the status quo of government, corporate industry and popular culture.

Delta Rae is a band fronted by two strong women, and backed by four feminist men. There are people who look to Liz and me as role models, but there are days when I don’t feel strong enough to be a role model for anyone, when the shame and rage of my experiences as a woman threaten to overwhelm me. The show must go on, and it does thanks to our fierce fans, who give me back a belief in myself. But most women don’t get applause at the end of the day.

We are seldom told we’re powerful. In fact, we are often told the opposite from the time we are very young. Now more than ever – thanks in large part to the #MeToo movement – brave women have been raising their voices, creating new awareness of the old, ugly reality that many of us have known since childhood. We wrote “Hands Dirty” because we refuse to give up on the inevitable, equitable future. We believe that women will rise and claim our place as leaders in this world because the future is up to us – as women and for anyone who believes in equality. Women are not a monolith, we have diverse beliefs, but we all will benefit when women are in positions of power — representing our diversity of experiences and inspiring the next generation to further the progress.

This November, we have the opportunity to get an historic number of women elected. Let’s do it by getting an historic number of women voting in the midterms and beyond. Volunteer with Rock The Vote, HeadCount, Emily’s List or one of the many great organizations helping us to all raise our voices. Speak up about the causes that matter to you. Inspire your friends, coworkers, classmates, family and neighbors to vote.

If you’re ready for a change… Me Too. Let’s get our HANDS DIRTY.
