Anderson East’s “Encore” Out Today

Anderson East’s highly anticipated new album, Encore, is out today on Low Country Sound/Elektra Records (stream/purchase HERE).

In celebration of the release, East performed his #1 single, “All On My Mind,” on this morning’s “TODAY” show (watch HERE), while, earlier this week, he performed “Girlfriend” on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” (watch HERE).

Last night, East kicked off his “Encore World Tour 2018” with a sold out show at New York’s Bowery Ballroom. The extensive tour will span throughout the year and includes a sold out show tonight at Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg and two sold out shows next weekend at Nashville’s 3rd & Lindsley among many others. All tickets are on sale now. See below for complete details.

Widespread critical praise for Encore

“…an often lustrous revisiting of raucous Southern soul, rousingly delivered and pinpoint precise. He has a voice full of extremely careful scrape and crunch, but his howls never feel unhinged.”—The New York Times

“…drawing inspiration from the sophistication of Donny Hathaway’s compositions and arrangements, the grandness of Van Morrison’s Caledonia Soul Orchestra and the dashing song interpretation of Joe Cocker.”—NPR Music

“…highlights an exciting singer-songwriter effortlessly able to blend elements of rock, blues, country and soul. East sounds both deeply classic and yet fresh…East’s voice is a thing of wonder, marbled like a slab of beef that’s been drenched in bourbon.”—Associated Press

“…this remains a sharp, soul-drenched, organically based set that solidifies the R&B roots at the heart of East’s talents…The songs are terrific, East sells them with his gritty, committed vocals and Encore is poised to push the talented singer-songwriter over the top and into the mainstream.”—American Songwriter

“One of Nashville’s most promising new talents.”—Billboard

Encore was produced by Grammy Award-winning producer Dave Cobb and recorded at Nashville’s historic RCA Studio along with additional production at House of Blues and Farmland Studio. The album features eleven songs, including “All On My Mind,” “King For A Day” and “Girlfriend” as well as renditions of songs by Ted Hawkins and Willie Nelson.

The release of Encore culminates a breakout series of years for East following his widely praised debut album, Delilah. In addition to the “TODAY” show and “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, East has previously performed on “Ellen,” “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” “CBS This Morning Saturday” and Daryl Hall’s “Live from Daryl’s House” and has lent his talents to several notable projects. He’s been featured on Dave Cobb’s Southern Family compilation, contributed a song to Brandi Carlile’s Cover Stories LP and crafted the original song “What Would It Take” for the Fifty Shades Darker soundtrack.

Album Review: Danielle Bradbery | I DON’T BELIEVE WE’VE MET

Danielle Bradbery’s sophomore album, I DON’T BELIEVE WE’VE MET, releases December 1st.

This album shows growth and introspection from the powerful vocalist who up until this point following THE VOICE has been highly-underated, in my opinion.  There is no reason she should not be garnering #1 hits and award nominations.

This album could be her game-changer as emotional songs fill this stellar release.

Standouts for me off this album are “Potential” and the vibey “What Are We Doing”.  Lots to love here!

Buy it on December 1st, it’s a must have from this incredible songstress.

Brantley Gilbert Debuts “FANDOM: FULLY COMMITTED” Today

Courtesy of the Valory Music Co.

With Rolling Stone calling THE DEVIL DON’T SLEEP (The Valory Music Co.) one of the year’s Best of Country and Americana so far this year, alongside Willie Nelson, Chris Stapleton, Alison Krauss, Nikki Lane and Jason Isbell, it feels like the critics are recognizing the lived-in truth of the Georgia born, raised and living songwriter thoroughly inhabits. But to understand the back-to-back PLATINUM success of HALFWAY TO HEAVEN and JUST WHO I AM, it comes down to understanding the bond between BRANTLEY GILBERT and his fans, known as the BG Nation.

With a tireless hard-ticket touring schedule that focuses on the Rust Belt, Northeast, West and entire South, it’s tricky being in the right place at the right time to catch him. So when the Opry Entertainment Group wanted to kick-off a new series dedicated to the fans, they knew exactly who the right artist to set their tone was: Brantley Gilbert and the always zealous BG Nation.

“When the Opry people came to us about kicking off their series Fandom,” recalls the man who won the American Music Awards Best Country Album for Just Who I Am, “I was all about it. We didn’t quite know how it was going to work, but I knew wherever they went, they were going to find the very best people in the world.

“When we got into taping, it was so much about Marc and Tina (Schardan) — I loved that! Loved the idea viewers would get a sense how blessed I am, because they were going to get to see what I see: the kind of soul I see every night when I go out and meet the people who love this music.”

With Rolling Stone calling Gilbert’s latest single “the soundtrack to Friday night in small towns everywhere,” it’s that ability to tap into how people between the coasts, the ones who work hard 60 hour weeks, that’s given the man whose penned six No. 1 singles, including Jason Aldean’s CMA Awards Song of the Year nominated “Dirt Road Anthem,” such a passion point with the BG Nation.

“Even before we had a record label, there were people who believed in this music. They believed in the things I was writing about, and they came to the shows, because my songs were their life.  When you talk to the BG Nation, that’s what they say.  But when you hear their stories, listen to them talk about their lives, that’s when what we do out on the road and in the studio gets real.”

Saying and seeing are two different things. To check out what “Fandom: Fully Committed” is all about, go to People.com (link live at 10:00A ET) – and meet one of the diehard fans who believe in Gilbert’s full-throttle way of life.

“What I love is they make it about Marc! I mean, there’s a little of us in there, but it’s really about one of so many awesome people who believe – and live – this music,” Gilbert says. “The BG Nation are friends. They don’t get enough credit in what we do, for how they inspire us – and the way they share their lives with us through how the music is part of their life.  So, I love everything about this show. And having just done our baby announcement with People, well, they understand why friends and family are so important. So where else would we debut this?”

“Fandom: Fully Committed” is dedicated – like Gilbert – to showing people the essence of what makes Country music lovers special. They set a high bar with BG Nation, who begin coming together again as THE ONE’S THAT LIKE ME 2018 TOUR kicks off February 1 at Worcester, MA’s DCU Center.

John Oates Announces New Album

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member John Oates has teamed with an amazing group of accomplished and rising stars in the Americana music world to bring his new album, Arkansas, to life. Scheduled for release on February 2, the project is his first for Thirty Tigers.  Arkansas is available for advance order through e-retailers and a Pledge Music campaign including autographed vinyl, limited edition exclusives, hats, shirts, and more.

The project originally began as a tribute to Oates’ idol, Mississippi John Hurt. During a series of Nashville recording sessions, it evolved organically to become a unique collection drawing from a wide range of Oates’ musical influences. Asked about the style and sound of Arkansas, John says, “It’s like Dixieland, dipped in bluegrass, and salted with Delta blues.”

The album was recorded at Addiction Studios in Nashville and produced by Oates and David Kalmusky who also engineered and mixed it. The sonic glue that cements the project is “The Good Road Band”. The impressive lineup consists of Sam Bush on mandolin, Russ Pahl on pedal steel, Guthrie Trapp on electric guitar, Steve Mackey on bass, Nathaniel Smith on cello, and Josh Day on drums and percussion.

With this incredible band, Oates shines a light on music from America’s past long before the birth of rock ‘n’ roll. Fresh interpretations include the Emmett Miller classic “Anytime” from 1924 as well as the Jimmie Rodgers tune, “Miss the Mississippi and You,” from 1932. Reimagined traditional Delta, country blues and ragtime selections salute legendary artists like Mississippi John Hurt and Blind Blake.

Two new original songs by Oates blend seamlessly with the traditional roots material, as well as John’s deep catalog of Hall and Oates hits. Taken together, Oates’ music becomes a retrospective of American popular song.

ABOUT JOHN OATES

John Oates is one half of the best-selling duo of all time, Hall & Oates, as well as an accomplished solo artist. A member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame, Oates embarked on a long-awaited solo career in 1999. He has recorded six solo albums and the 2015 DVD docu-concert Another Good Road. His seventh project, Arkansas, will be released by Thirty Tigers in February..

Influenced by R&B and folk music while growing up near Philadelphia, Oates was honored as a BMI Icon in 2008. In 2016, Hall & Oates received a star on the Hollywood of Fame. In addition to his solo shows, Oates continues to tour with Daryl Hall, playing sold-out concerts around the world. St. Martin’s Press released the hardcover of Oates’ memoir, Change of Seasons, in March 2017; the paperback will be released in 2018. Oates resides in Nashville.

Album Review: Daphne Willis | FREAKS LIKE ME

Daphne Willis; Dopamine; Pop Artist; Nashville; Songwriter; NAMI; Mental Health; PTSD; Somebody’s Someone

Daphne Willis is quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with in the pop space with her album, Freaks Like Me. Throughout the album, Daphne takes us on a trip of different stories that motivate listeners to climb out of dark areas in their life, remember that  they are cared about, and to keep going no matter how bad the ups and downs are in life. As a whole, Daphne describes this project as the most exhilarating & vulnerable work that she has ever created. Musically speaking, Daphne mixes numerous different sounds and instruments that make the music appealing to a wide range of people.

From the big band and symphonic elements to the guitar strums, you never know what sound you’ll get on the next track. A few stand outs include, “Out of the Black”, “Keep on Keepin’ On” and her viral single “Somebody’s Someone”.

“Out of the Black” is a prideful hit about overcoming the shadows of depression and enjoying all that life has to offer–without medication. It’s a great anthem for anyone that has had struggles with mental illness.

“Keep on Keepin’ On” is an upbeat, energetic tune infused with some great brass instrumentals that are complemented by Daphne’s thoughtful, poetic lyrics. It’s a celebratory song about persevering through difficult times and the strength drawn from the people around you.

“Somebody’s Someone” is a slower, heartfelt melody encouraging listeners to know that they’re loved and valued–it’s probably the one that has resonated the most with her listeners.

Overall, Freaks Like Me is a unique journey through the last few years of Daphne’s life, that anyone can connect with. It’s incredibly honest and raw, with Daphne pouring her heart out in the lyrics and melodies. Daphne shows incredible promise and proves why she is certainly one to watch in the pop music genre.

Kelsea Ballerini Releases Highly Anticipated Sophomore Album Unapologetically – AVAILABLE NOW

The wait is finally over, as Grammy-nominated hitmaker Kelsea Ballerini releases her latest album Unapologetically. The project serves as the CMA “Female Vocalist of the Year” nominee’s sophomore release, and the follow-up to the Gold-certified debut, The First Time, which also produced multiple Platinum-certified hits.  After just 9 minutes, the official release the album hit No.1 on the iTunes Country Albums chart and is No. 3 on the All Genre Albums chart.

“Legends,” the lead single from Unapologetically, has continued to turn heads while currently racing up the charts. The track immediately charged its way into the Top 15 on the iTunes All-Genre Songs chart within 12 hours of its release. Additionally, her empowering anthem “Miss Me More” stormed its way to No. 1 on the iTunes Country Songs chart upon its release two weeks ago. Ballerini shared one of her favorite fan-made videos showing off their fierce sides lip-syncing the song on her Instagram.

Ballerini is also returning to her roots, with a very special show this past weekend in her hometown of Knoxville, Tenn. The singer/songwriter performed a full set at her high school, Central High, this past weekend. The show was highly centered around the encore song, “High School,” which is featured on Unapologetically. The reflective ballad was penned solely by Ballerini, inspired by her experiences at Central High.  The emotional night concluded with the “Peter Pan” singer donating $20,000 to the school for future music programs. In an Instagram post, she called this, “the most fulfilling thing I’ve ever been able to do.”

The talented songstress kicked off her album release week by announcing “The Unapologetically Tour,” which will begin next year. The must-see spectacle kicks off Feb. 8 in Birmingham, Ala. where fans will be treated to a unique set list packed with some of the country singer’s biggest hits like the upbeat “Love Me Like You Mean It” and the heartbreaking “Peter Pan” along with new songs from Unapologetically.

The album buzz has reached new heights, with recent features in Forbes, Entertainment Weekly, The New York Times, Paste Magazine and many more. Ballerini has also kicked her promotional efforts into high gear, making recent appearances on The Ellen Degeneres Show and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon while also gracing the cover of Parade Magazine in October. The country starlet will appear on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert tonight at 11:35pm ET (check local listings) and on the Nov. 8 edition of Good Morning America. CBS also recently announced that Ballerini will be the headliner for The Thanksgiving Day Parade, airing Nov. 23.

Album Review: Kelsea Ballerini | UNAPOLOGETICALLY

Picking up right where THE FIRST TIME left off, Kelsea Ballerini brings us her sophomore album, UNAPOLOGETICALLY, releasing Friday, November 3rd.

Unless you have been hiding under a rock for the last couple of years, you have no doubt witnessed the skyrocketing rise of Kelsea Ballerini in country music; everything from multiple #1 hits from her first release to her first headlining tour to CMA, ACM, and GRAMMY nominations.

Ballerini is a vibrant, sparkling star that has helped new female artists bust those doors open at country radio, which has been difficult for female artists to break through and get airplay in during recent years.  She is the first new female artist in years to achieve a #1 hit song, much less multiple #1 songs, off her debut album on Black River Entertainment.

This album covers the last two and a half years of my life in the order of how it happened. I released The First Time when I was 21. I was so new, and I was so excited to just be able to go out on radio tour and play shows. The things that I was going through in my personal life at the time I didn’t share; I wrote about them instead. So, this is the first time that I’m able to actually talk about my life and the amazing things that have happened – and the not so amazing things that have happened – over the last few years. I feel like being able to lay it all out as it happened, in order, honestly feels so liberating and freeing. Being able to sing that truth every night is going to be a such a big gift.

This album is no sophomore slump, as so many in the past have experienced.  As much as I loved THE FIRST TIME and wore it out in my car’s cd player, this album shows such growth and beautiful lyrical imagery from Ballerini that it has become my new favorite.

It is extremely-difficult for me to pick a favorite off of this 12-track release because I find something that I love in each and every song, but here goes:

“Graveyard” holds the strongest of lyrical imagery and this mid-tempo tune is probably my favorite as she sings of lost love that hurt her and not wanting to be “another heart in your graveyard”.

“Roses” is a mid-tempo tune that has that feel of exuberance as she looks back at how good a love once was with fond memories, but her heart has now healed and she is finally at a place in life where ready to move on.”

“End Of The World” will tug at your heartstrings as Ballerini sings of how she “thought the stars had lost their shine”.

“Unapologetically” brings Ballerini full circle as she sings of being “unapologetically in love” and how “it doesn’t phase me when they call me crazy”.  She is obviously singing about the love she has found in fiance, Morgan Evans, who is signed to Warner Music Nashville.

There is so very much to love about this album.  Ballerini shares her heart and her truth on this release as she brings you on her personal journey of heartbreak, personal growth, discovery of who she is, who she wants to be, and is living her life “unapologetically” out loud.  It is beautiful and a must-have for your music collection.

Rated 5 out of 5 stars.

LIVE IN NO SHOES NATION Is Part of Stadium Trip Around The Sun

Having spent the better part of the year culling, mixing and mastering Live in No Shoes Nation, Kenny Chesney created what he believes to be the ultimate love letter to the people who’ve come out year after year, summer after summer. Believing that his songs, especially the hits, only truly find their ultimate form after being shared with the world, Live in No Shoes Nation serves to capture the passion, the intensity and the spirit of No Shoes Nation at large.

“The more I listened, the more I realized: they have no idea how good they sound – or how much they give these songs new shapes,” Chesney says. “The last thing I thought I’d be doing for my next record was a live album, but the way No Shoes Nation sounds, it seemed like – once I really started digging in – the only thing to do.”

Further heightening that connection between the live experience and the people who make the noise, Chesney wanted to find a way to close the circle. Anyone buying a ticket to this year’s Trip Around the Sun 2018 stadium shows can receive a physical copy of Live in No Shoes Nation as part of each ticket purchased.

“It just seems like the right thing to do,” Chesney offers. “For all the people who’ve been part of making these tours so successful every single summer, let’s make it as easy as possible to put the music in their hands. We’re all moving so fast, with too many places we have to be. This way, if you want to hear something like ‘One Step Up’ from the Stone Pony, or something that goes all the way back to 2007 with Dave Matthews and I having an end-of-tour moment singing ‘Space Cowboy’ and ‘Three Little Birds,’ or the night in Boston when we sang ‘Happy on the Hey Now’ for a friend from the islands, it’s all here!”

“And as much as downloading is so convenient, there is nothing like putting a CD in your car – and just driving and sinking into the music. Maybe I’m the only person who still does that, but I can’t tell you how many nights I’ve spent during the making of this record doing just that. It does sound different, so I figured: make it part of how we get into Trip Around the Sun.”

From the beach at Perdido Key, on the Florida/Alabama line to Green Bay, Wisconsin’s Lambeau Field…from Tampa, Kansas City, or Denver’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre to Foxboro, Massachusetts, Live in No Shoes Nation measures the fun, the friends, the soul and the songs that have come to define coming-of-age in the flyover this century as they’ve been lived, sung and cheered to since the only Country Artist on Billboard’s Top 10 Touring Acts of the Last 25 Years found himself a true stadium headliner.

“This is about music, about getting pumped up for next summer’s stadium shows,” Chesney says of the CD that fans can receive with every ticket. “Music is meant to be lived and loved and turned up. I wanna think we got that right here, and that everyone coming to the shows thinks they sound as good on these tracks as I do.”
