FOCUS was invited to attend the show by Green River Ordinance at Exit/In in Nashville on September 29th. Neither Matt nor I had ever had the opportunity to see them perform live and have only recently become familiar with their music. What did we think of the show? Simply put: these guys are the real deal! What a treat to see them perform live! Honestly, one of the best shows I’ve seen all year. Excellent musicianship, great stage presence, and radio-friendly alternative rock songs with lyrics filled with depth and meaning. Not only that, these are just good, humble artists from Texas who have just recently made the move to Nashville. Continue Reading →

Legends Honored, Superstars Perform at 6th Annual ACM Honors
Country music fans are aware that the genre has no shortage of awards shows (at least four and counting). Arguably the most prestigious of these, however, is the Academy of Country Music Awards (ACMs) held in Las Vegas in April. What fewer country fans may know is the Academy holds an annual awards show for non-televised industry and specialty awards called the ACM Honors, which took place Monday at The Ryman Auditorium. Perfect Weather Shines on Musicians Corner
The rain from the early morning had gone, and by 3pm the day was sunny with the temperature in the low 70’s. Following a record-breaking week last Saturday, Musicians Corner was back in Centennial Park for performances from the Allen Thompson Band, Goodbye June, Marie Hines, Matthew Perryman Jones and more.
Show Review: Plumb at 12th & Porter
I had the opportunity to attend Plumb’s show on August 21st at 12th & Porter in Nashville. 12th & Porter is one of the best live venues in town to see music because of the lighting, stage, and sound. That would be exactly why many artists chose it as a place to shoot live video performances at. Plumb was no exception. Continue Reading →
Blind Boys Excite and Food Trucks Delight at Musicians Corner’s Fall Season Kickoff
Musicians Corner has kicked off its fall season in unprecedented fashion. Coinciding with the Nashville Street Food Awards, the weekly Centennial Park event saw record numbers come out to see Jon Troast, The Nashville Symphony Quartet, Chelsea Gill, Jeremy Lister, Anthony Snape, Karen Elson, The Carmonas and the legendary Blind Boys of Alabama.
The event is sporting a slightly different look this season, turning the stage 180 degrees due to a Centennial Park tree that is rather old and at risk of coming down. Yet that didn’t stop the crowd from piling in and trying food from the street vendors and beer from the beer and wine garden. Continue Reading →
