Jon Bon Jovi Teaches Colbert To Rock; This House Is Not For Sale Tour On-Sale This Friday (1/19)

Last night, Jon Bon Jovi made the first of three appearances on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert (1/16 guest, 1/17 musical guest, 2/22 musical guest).  Among the topics – the band’s upcoming i1nduction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, their upcoming tour, new songs in February – but most importantly, Stephen asked for pointers on being a stadium-filling, Grammy winning rock star. Jon just smiled his signature grin and replied, “I go to work every day wanting to be here.” Watch the full interview here.

This morning, Jon joined Howard Stern where the pair not only made the surprise announcement that Stern will induct the band into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, they also premiered Bon Jovi’s upcoming new single, “When We Were Us.” Although the song isn’t set for release until February 23, the two stars famous for making their own rules decided on the fly to reveal the song. And, as Howard said, “I think you got a hit here!” Listen to the clip here.

This Friday, tickets go on sale for the spring leg of the This House Is Not For Sale Tour starting January 19 at 10 a.m. local time (except St. Paul, which will be February 16) at Ticketmaster.com and through participating venue box offices. Each online ticket purchased will include a CD of the original This House Is Not For Sale.

Reviews from the previous leg of tour prove that Bon Jovi is still on top of their game and leading the pack. Atlanta Journal-Constitution raved, “(The tour) solidifies their standing as one of rock’s most resilient acts.” Creative Loafing Tampa said, “Bon Jovi leaves 18,000 screaming, standing fans shot through the heart…” while the Los Angeles Daily News reported that “JBJ shook the stage from the start to end with energy and enthusiasm, and he kept that energy rolling with a voice in tip top shape…” The St. Louis Post-Dispatch said “Bon Jovi doesn’t miss a beat…” and the Toronto Sun enthused, “It was anthemic Bon Jovi at its best…”

FIRST LISTEN: Dierks Bentley’s New Single “Woman, Amen”

Multi-PLATINUM singer/songwriter Dierks Bentley found himself instantly intrigued with the idea of “Woman, Amen” when it was thrown out during a Fall co-write with songwriters Josh Kear and Ross Copperman. The result is a deeply sincere and personal message of love and gratitude made universal and then freed to soar with signature acoustic instrumentation and a full-throated anthemic chorus. Available now at Country Radio and with all digital partners, Bentley will perform the lead track from his next studio album THE MOUNTAIN tomorrow on The Ellen DeGeneres Show (1/18, check local listings).

“My wife and our relationship has been the one constant element in my life over all the ups and downs of my career and personal life,” shared Bentley. “Our journey together has made me the man I am today. I doubt my heart would even recognize the old me. This song addresses that in the most direct possible way. The personal gratitude expressed in the lyrics, mixed with a track that leans heavily on some bigger sounds, is the perfect way to introduce the album.”

Since moving to Nashville, Bentley has brought a distinguishable grit and songwriting prowess to his recordings, and he’s consistently recreated his sound with a fearlessness that has won him both critical acclaim and commercial viability. Billboard gives breadth to his latest evolution with a video glimpse into the epic landscapes of Colorado and the studio atop a Telluride mesa where the song was recorded. Last week, NPR previewed new music from THE MOUNTAIN (Capitol Records Nashville), which will be released in early 2018. “He pursues themes of questing and self-actualization across a wide-open terrain of arid deserts and rugged ridgelines, cactus flowers and tumbleweeds” (NPR) as the writing process came together quickly when Bentley returned to Telluride a short time later for a retreat with fellow Nashville songwriters. Guitars, banjos, mandolins and fiddles are given room to shine, and integrated into modern drum and bass sounds that will fuel the arenas and amphitheaters on the road. He has become a fixture in country music amassing 17 No. One singles, dozens of nominations including those from the ACM, CMA, GRAMMY and Billboard Music Awards while serving as a Grand Ole Opry member for over a decade. Tyminski’s “Wanted” And “Temporary Love” Performances On ABC’s Good Morning America

Tyminski (Dan Tyminski) made his solo morning TV debut on ABC’s Good Morning America yesterday with his performance of “Wanted” from his critically acclaimed album Southern Gothic. The 14-time Grammy winner also performed “Temporary Love.”

The release of Southern Gothic led to an immediate reaction from the press and fans alike, garnering impressive remarks from The New York Times, NPR: All Things Considered, Entertainment Weekly and No Depression. Tyminski performed “Southern Gothic” on CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. The song was also named one of The New York Times’ 54 Best Songs of 2017.

A Rutland, Vermont native, Tyminski co-wrote Southern Gothic with top songwriters including Sarah Buxton (“Stupid Boy”), Josh Kear (“Need You Now”), Cary Barlowe (“American Honey”), Andrew Dorff (“Neon Light”), Amy Wadge (“Thinking Out Loud”) and Southern Gothic producer Jesse Frasure (“Dirt On My Boots”).

Tyminski has always been drawn to Southern singers including Jimmy Martin, Ricky Skaggs and Tony Rice. As a child, he found himself not only mimicking their southern singing voices, but also teaching himself how to play banjo by ear. A 25-year member of Alison Krauss’ Union Station, Tyminski is also the singing voice of George Clooney’s character in the film O Brother, Where Art Thou? for which he won two Grammy Awards including Best Country Collaboration with Vocals for the single “I Am A Man of Constant Sorrow” and Album of the Year for the soundtrack which sold over 10 million copies worldwide.

In 2014 after lending his vocals to Avicii’s international pop hit “Hey Brother,” which went #1 in at least 18 countries and has global streams of over 1.1 billion and downloads of 5.3 million, Tyminski began to realize that he could fit outside of his acoustic music box. With Southern Gothic, Tyminski has crafted an American quilt of music that is a melding of genres and in which the symbolism of light and dark seem to always be at odds.

Tyminski is currently on tour in support of Southern Gothic with more dates to be added. Additional videos for “Wanted” and “Temporary Love” can be viewed here and here.

Dolly Parton Kicks Off 2018 With Honors From Emmys, Guinness World Records And RIAA

Global superstar Dolly Parton kicks off 2018 by receiving recognition from the Emmys, RIAA and Guinness World Records for multiple milestones.

“What a fantastic way to start off a new year,” enthuses Parton, “By being honored by the Emmys, RIAA and Guinness World Records folks!  I am so flattered and proud!”

Dolly Parton is nominated for a 32nd Midsouth Regional Emmy Awards in the Community Service category for Smoky Mountains Rise, along with collaborators Nicholas E. Dugger, Danny Nozell, Pete Owens, Scott Durand, Shanna Strassberg, Edie Lynn Hoback and John Zarling. The event will be streamed live Saturday, January 20, at 8:00 pm Central Time from Nashville’s Music City Center HERE. During the ceremony, Parton and the Dollywood Foundation will receive The Governors’ Award for outstanding achievement in community service.

Adding another accolade to her illustrious career, Dolly Parton earns a well-deserved spot in the record books. Featured in the pages of the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS 2018 Edition, the singer-songwriter was recently recognized for holding records for the Most Decades with a Top 20 hit on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs Chart and Most Hits on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs Chart by a Female Artist. To make it official, Guinness World Records visited Dolly in Nashville recently to present her with record title certificates and sit down for an exclusive interview. Watch the presentation and Q&A HERE.

“To receive these two Guinness World Records is so great!” adds Parton. “Joining so many wonderful singers and songwriters who have been honored this way feels so special to me. You never know when you start out with your work how it’s going to turn out, but to have these two world records makes me feel very humbled and blessed!”

Surpassing fellow country music icons, George Jones, Elvis Presley and Reba McEntire, Parton is the only artist with Top 20 hits on across six consecutive decades (1960s–2010s), earning her the title of Most Decades with a Top 20 Hit on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs Chart. Beginning with her first Top 20 entry, “Something Fishy” in 1967, she’s a credited artist on a further 73 Top 20 hits, including her most recent, a new version of her beloved 1974 title “Jolene,” featuring acapella quintet Pentatonix, which debuted at No.18 on the chart dated October 8, 2016.

The 2016 remastered version of “Jolene” was also Dolly’s 107th chart entry, solidifying her second record title for the Most Hits on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs Chart by a Female Artist. Parton’s first hit on this record-breaking list was her 1967 debut, “Dumb Blonde.” Of the 107 hits, twenty-one were achieved with former partner Porter Wagoner (1927–2007). Find Parton in the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS 2018 Edition.

Dolly Parton was recently surprised with the news of four Recording Industry Association certification awards upgrades.

She was presented with plaques in recognition of the RIAA Gold certification of Parton’s recording of “I Will Always Love You” (RCA) with over 500,000 digital sales and streams, Gold certification of “Jolene” (RCA) with over 500,000 digital sales and streams and Platinum certification of “9 To 5” (RCA) which has amassed over 1 million digital sales and streams. Of special note, the song “9 To 5,” written by Parton, has taken on heightened awareness as the music bed to a new “Northwestern Mutual” national television commercial.

As the sole songwriter of “I Will Always Love You,” as record by Whitney Houston on The Bodyguard film soundtrack (Legacy/Arista), Parton received a fourth plaque commemorating Triple-Platinum certification for over 3 million digital sales and stream of the smash hit.

Currently nominated for GRAMMY “Best Country Album” and “Best Country Duo/Group Performance,” Lady Antebellum recently released the title track from their No. One selling album HEART BREAK (Capitol Records Nashville). The new single from the multi-PLATINUM trio provides “a bedrock for the entire record” (Paste) as “Scott takes satisfaction in feminine independence” (NPR) with “a touch of darkness and a clever play on words” (Rolling Stone). HEART BREAK follows more than 18 million album units, nine No. 1 hits, ACM and CMA “Vocal Group of the Year” trophies three years in a row and countless other honors including seven GRAMMYs, Billboard Music Awards, People’s Choice Awards and Teen Choice Awards. For more information visit www.ladyantebellum.com.

Rucker first attained multi-Platinum status in the music industry as the lead singer and rhythm guitarist of GRAMMY award-winning Hootie & the Blowfish. Since re-introducing himself to the world as a country artist, he has released five consecutive chart-topping albums and earned a whole new legion of fans. Rucker’s Platinum-certified debut country album Learn To Live and follow-up album Charleston, SC 1966 produced five No. 1 singles, “Come Back Song,” “This,” “Alright,” “It Won’t Be Like This For Long” and “Don’t Think I Don’t Think About It.” In 2012, he achieved a lifelong dream when he became a member of the Grand Ole Opry, and won his third career GRAMMY award in 2014 for his 4x Platinum selling cover of Old Crow Medicine Show’s “Wagon Wheel,” off his True Believers album. Southern Style, his fourth studio country album, includes No. 1 single “Homegrown Honey,” co-written by Rucker, label mate Charles Kelley of Lady Antebellum and Nathan Chapman. His latest album on Capitol Nashville, When Was The Last Time features Rucker’s eighth No. 1 on country radio, “If I Told You.” The album’s second single, “For The First Time,” is currently Top 25 and climbing the country charts.

Breakout country artist and People Magazine’s “One to Watch,” Nashville-based Russell Dickerson continues to overtake airwaves and arenas with his Top 5 GOLD single “Yours,” repeatedly called the “biggest love song of the year,” off his debut album by the same name. The “hypnotic” (CMT) crooner kicks off what promises to be his landmark year as Billboard’s No.1_Emerging_Artist, a Spotify RISE artist and CMT’s 18 for 2018. With a deep appreciation for and responsibility to his loyal fan following, Dickerson understands the importance of real connectivity, spending as much time as he can on the road in front of the people who made him the #1 country pre-order for weeks (2017 saw tour billings that included Thomas Rhett’s “Home Team” Tour and Florida Georgia Line’s “Smooth” tour, and finished with his first headlining tour). His EP premiered at No. 1 on Billboard’s Heat Seeker Chart and No. 2 on iTunes Country chart, with “Yours” clocking over 100 million streams to date. The singer and songwriter is the launch artist on Triple Tigers Records, a joint venture with Sony Music. Delta Rae Donates To St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

DELTA RAE brought their family values to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® in Memphis, TN this past weekend with a special donation. Founded in 1989 by ALABAMA’s Randy Owen, the annual Country Cares for St. Jude Kids® event – which connects celebrities with radio stations and other media outlets to help raise funds and awareness for St. Jude – has raised more than $750 million dollars.

Born into a creative household, the Hölljes siblings – and one half of Delta Rae – found an early love for Southern literature from their mother and invention from their father, who developed an active learning toy. The Smart Cycle is a stationary bike that lets kids pedal their way through fun educational games while helping to tackle childhood obesity.
“Visiting with the doctors and kids at St. Jude was truly a life-changing experience that we’re grateful to have been invited to join,” said Eric Hölljes. “We grew up in a household of discovery, and part of that was seeing our father’s conceptual drawings and the prototype he built in the garage transform into this cool product that caught the attention of Fisher Price. This toy is obviously very special to us, but we hope the kids here will enjoy it too!”

From donating Smart Cycles at events like Toys for Tots Benefit in Madison, WI to highlighting mentors with Tickets for Teachers, Delta Rae has long been dedicated to education and giving back. Their current single “No Peace In Quiet” initially came from a place of heartache but its message has also brought hope to many.

Their four-part harmonies and more lyrical journeys are layered across back-to-back releases on The Valory Music Co. – THE BLACKBIRD SESSIONS EP and A LONG AND HAPPY LIFE EP, which earned Delta Rae as a CMT “18 for 2018” Listen Up artist and spot on Billboard’s “Country Artists to Watch in 2018” list boasting, “this talented group has positioned themselves for a run at the fast lane.” Already back in the studio, the band is working on a full-length album that is sure to offer “the power of the written word” (Women’s Wear Daily). Warner Music Group and Warner Music Nashville are honored to welcome eight-time ACM winner and CMA Entertainer of the Year Kenny Chesney to the Warner Music family. As part of WMN, the songwriter/superstar’s music will be released on the Blue Chair Records/Warner Bros. Records label.

Since leaving East Tennessee with a handful of songs and a dream bigger than he understood, Kenny Chesney has developed into the man The Wall Street Journal deemed “The King of the Road” and the Los Angeles Times proclaimed “The People’s Superstar.” With over 30 million albums sold, 30 No. 1s, and countless sold-out stadium tours that sell in excess of a million tickets every time he takes to the road, the 2018 Country Album of the Year GRAMMY nominee is on the verge of yet another creative renaissance.

“It is a big deal to change labels,” said Chesney. “But when you hear Max, Espo, and Cris Lacy talk about music, about what it means and does, when you hear that passion, you can’t help but get fired up. Nashville Ballet Premieres Groundbreaking Light / The Holocaust & Humanity Project As Part Of Community-Wide Initiative

Nashville Ballet will premiere Light / The Holocaust & Humanity Project this February, an internationally acclaimed contemporary ballet that journeys through one of history’s darkest hours to ultimately shine a spotlight on the triumph of the human spirit. Presented as part of Nashville Ballet’s annual Attitude series, Light / The Holocaust & Humanity Project comes to Music City from Ballet Austin Artistic Director Stephen Mills February 9-11, 2018, at TPAC’s Polk Theater.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=IVzZ6LoufAg

Light / The Holocaust & Humanity Project unfolds as Naomi Warren, a real-life Holocaust survivor, reflects on her life. Following one person’s journey through the catastrophic events of the Holocaust, the work aims to spread a message of resiliency, courage and, most importantly, hope. Created and choreographed by Mills, Light has traveled to cities all over the world since its premiere in Austin, Texas, in 2005. The ballet is set to a contemporary score by renowned composers Philip Glass, Evelyn Glennie, Michael Gordon, Arvo Pärt and Steve Reich.

Light is a timely reminder of the fragility of human rights,” Nashville Ballet Artistic Director & CEO Paul Vasterling said. “What’s unique about art is its ability to spark meaningful conversation, teach important lessons and leave lasting impressions that have the power to lead to change. Light is an especially poignant example of that as we not only reflect on the past, but also consider the present and our personal responsibility when we see acts of injustice today.”

Light / The Holocaust & Humanity Project is a unique multi-disciplinary community partnership that promotes the protection of human rights against bigotry and hate through arts, education and public dialogue. Through a partnership with the Tennessee Human Rights Commission, Nashville Ballet will host a series of community conversations and events leading up to Light / The Holocaust & Humanity Project to reflect on historical and contemporary issues of social injustice to promote understanding.

Nashville Ballet Community Calendar:

Light / The Holocaust & Humanity Project and its associated events are a part of a city-wide initiative during 2018 to help Nashvillians reflect on their roles and contributions to social justice in our city and world. The community initiative is anchored by the Nashville Symphony’s Violins of Hope, an exhibit of and performance with musical instruments played in concentration camps during the Holocaust.

Attitude: Light / The Holocaust & Humanity Project is presented by Sea Salt Nashville with additional support from SunTrust and Susan Underwood Physical Therapy and funded in part by an award from the National Endowment for the Arts. Tickets start at $35 and can be purchased in person at the TPAC box office in downtown Nashville, by phone at (615) 782-4040 or at NashvilleBallet.com. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® honored GRAMMY Award-winning country music superstar Brad Paisley with the prestigious Randy Owen Angels Among Us Award.

The coveted award – which recognizes individuals who have made exceptional and lasting contributions to the hospital through their humanitarian spirit and unique commitment – was given to Paisley Saturday, Jan. 13, at the annual Country Cares for St. Jude Kids® songwriter’s dinner at The Peabody Memphis.

This recognition places Paisley among the ranks of five past recipients, including ALABAMA front man and co-founder of Country Cares for St. Jude Kids, Randy Owen for whom the award is named; additional recipients are country music artist John Rich, former ALSAC Chief Operating Officer David McKee(posthumously), St. Jude Country Cares Advisory Council member Sharon Eaves(posthumously), and country music artist Darius Rucker.

Paisley is a long-standing supporter of the lifesaving mission of St. Jude. In 2011, he recorded “One of Those Lives,” a song inspired by the courageous patients and families of St. Jude. Paisley donated a family gathering room to St. Jude Target House, St. Jude’s long-term housing facility for families staying more than 90 days. The Brad Paisley Lodge, positioned near the entrance of St. Jude Target House, is a cozy, common area for residents with a pool table, Guitar Hero gaming system, TVs and a fireplace. Thanks to generous donors, families stay at the St. Jude Target House for no cost.

“We are proud to honor Brad Paisley with this recognition. His unwavering passion, service and generosity are truly inspiring, and over the years he has made a significant difference in the lives of patients and families at St. Jude,” said Richard Shadyac Jr., President and CEO of ALSAC, the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

He continued, “This recognition is a testament to Brad Paisley’s strong advocacy for St. Jude, and the ongoing fight for children with cancer and other life-threatening diseases. And this honor for Brad also reflects the strength of the entire country music industry, who devote their hearts, time and talent each year to further share our mission and raise funds that are critically important in ensuring families never receive a bill for treatment, travel, housing or food – because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.”
