Charlie Daniels’ Volunteer Jam XX: Over 30 Songs, All-Star Band And Diverse Performances

Volunteer Jam XX: A Tribute To Charlie Daniels on March 07, 2018 at Bridgestone Arena Nashville, Tn.

Just hours before entertainers such as Alabama, Alison Krauss, Billy Gibbons, Chris Young, Lynyrd Skynyrd, the man of the hour, Charlie Daniels and many more took the stage, Rolling Stone noted, “there really is no better showcase for Charlie Daniels or his namesake Band than the Volunteer Jam, the musical carnival that Daniels has kept going since its inception in 1974… The Volunteer Jam didn’t merely become an institution, it reflected how Charlie Daniels thought about his music.”

With a killer ensemble and set list of over 30 songs – from Jamey Johnson’s take on Daniels’ “Long Haired Country Boy” to Skynryd’s performance of “Sweet Home Alabama” to Devon Allman, Duane Betts and Chuck Leavell’s once-in-a-lifetime collaboration on “Midnight Rider” to, of course, “The Devil Went Down to Georgia,” a packed Bridgestone Arena witnessed over four hours of incredible music continuing the Jam’s legacy.

“Volunteer Jam XX had a kind of “specialness” about it.  The caliber, quantity and variety of talent who took the stage crossed lines, demographics, genres and styles that, while truly diverse, blended together to make for what was most likely the most entertaining Volunteer Jam in its 44 year history.” -Charlie Daniels

Following “Devil,” the all-star backing band paused while Travis Campbell, Glen Campbell’s son presented Daniels with the Tennessee National Guard Minuteman Award. Volunteer Jam emcee Storme Warren then introduced two Navy SEALs, David Rutherford and “Lone Survivor” Marcus Luttrell, for a moment spotlighting the beneficiary of tonight’s concert, the Journey Home Project. The duo surprised Daniels by presenting him with the inaugural Team Never Quit Lifetime Achievement Award for his support of our servicemen and women.

AXS TV filmed the concert event for a primetime broadcast special this summer; information on air date and time to be announced at a later date. Stay tuned to BlackBirdPresents.com for more details.

About Charlie Daniels
From his Dove Award winning gospel albums to his genre-defining Southern rock anthems and his CMA Award-winning country hits, few artists have left a more indelible mark on America’s musical landscape than Charlie Daniels.  An outspoken patriot, beloved mentor to young artists and still a road warrior at age 81, Charlie has parlayed his passion for music into a multi-platinum career and a platform to support the military, underprivileged children and others in need.

Raised among the longleaf pines of North Carolina, Charlie began his career playing bluegrass music with the Misty Mountain Boys.  After moving to Nashville in 1967, he began making a name for himself as a songwriter, session musician, and producer.  Elvis Presley recorded a tune Charlie co-wrote titled “It Hurts Me,” which was released on the flip side of “Kissin’ Cousins.”  He played on such landmark albums as Bob Dylan’s Nashville Skyline and tried his hand at producing on the Youngbloods’ Elephant Mountain and Ride the Wind.

His unique voice as an artist emerged as Charlie recorded his self-titled solo album in 1970 for Capitol Records.  Two years later he formed The Charlie Daniels Band, and the group scored its first hit with the top ten “Uneasy Rider.”  Since then the CDB has populated radio with such memorable hits as “Long Haired Country Boy,” “The South’s Gonna Do It Again,” “In America,” “The Legend of Wooley Swamp” and of course, his signature song, “The Devil Went Down to Georgia,” which won a Grammy for Best Country Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group in 1979 as well as Single of the Year at the Country Music Association Awards.

Jake Owen Celebrates Unprecedented Start For New Single “I Was Jack (You Were Diane)” With Big Loud Records

Big Loud recording artist Jake Owen has a lot to celebrate because of the tremendous support from country radio for his new single “I Was Jack (You Were Diane).” Over 130 monitored chart-reporting country radio stations added his new song on or before it’s official impact date (TODAY), marking an unprecedented start to a new single in Jake’s career to date. “I Was Jack (You Were Diane)” is the most-added record at country radio for a second consecutive week.

“I’m so ecstatic about the launch of this new music and single,” says Owen. “Big Loud Records has done an incredible job launching this new project for me and believing in who I am and what kind of music I’m drawn to make. Joey Moi, once again, helped elevate the song to a whole other level, and we are all fired up about this start to a great 2018. Thanks country radio for believing in me!”

“Jake delivered a huge record and country radio showed up big for us,” adds Stacy Blythe, Big Loud’s National Promotion Director. “134 stations by add date is a debut we couldn’t even imagine. I’m very proud of this Big Loud family and this is just the start!”

Clay Hunnicutt, President of Big Loud Records, expresses, “Thank you to everyone who has helped Jake and the Big Loud team get off to such an amazing start. This far exceeded our expectations. There’s a proven track record that Jake and Joey Moi make great music together, so we really shouldn’t be surprised.”

“I Was Jack (You Were Diane)” was an iHeart World Premiere, and Sirius XM’s “The Highway” blasted it out of the gate. The new nostalgic single is garnering attention from digital media partners as well. Jake graced the cover of Spotify’s Hot Country playlist, featuring “I Was Jack (You Were Diane).” Also, the song topped Amazon Music’s Fresh Country playlist and was added to Apple Music’s A-List Country playlist, as well as, Pandora’s New Country Now playlist.

In addition, Owen’s 2018 “Life’s Whatcha Make It Tour” kicks off on May 15th in Chattanooga, TN, at AT&T Field, with special guest Chris Janson and rising star Jordan Davis. The majority of shows will take place at baseball stadiums across the country. Check it out HERE. Tickets on sale NOW.

Florida Georgia Line & Tennessee Titans Tackle Downtown Nashville Celebration April 4

MULTI-PLATINUM superstar duo FLORIDA GEORGIA LINE are set to unleash their biggest hits on downtown Nashville April 4, headlining a massive street party and concert to help the NFL’s Tennessee Titans reveal their brand new 2018-2019 uniforms. Watch here.

Launching a new look that coincides with their 20th season as Titans, the FREE show kicks off at 7:00P CT at Music City’s neon-lined crossroads of Broadway and 1st Avenue, just blocks away from the duo’s three-story entertainment destination FGL HOUSE.

Tens of thousands of fans will score the first look at their favorite Titans players in the new uniforms before the FGL takes the stage. Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley told The Tennessean they won’t be holding anything back from their electrifying live-show experience.

“We’re bringing all the bells and whistles,” Hubbard said.

“We were like, ‘If we’re going to play Nashville, we need to do it right. Let’s rock this thing,’” Kelley said, adding they also planned to bring their pyrotechnics. “We’re just jacked. Nashville is a bull’s-eye for everyone to come to right now. Anytime we can represent the city and the Titans, we’re stepping our game up. We’re just thankful.”

Following a year which saw FGL rise to the level of stadium-packing crossover icons with THE SMOOTH STADIUM TOUR 2017 (with Nelly, Backstreet Boys and more supporting guests), and continue their streak of chart success with their 13th No. 1 single, “God, Your Mama, And Me” (ft. Backstreet Boys), the pair have already doubled down on their reputation as genre-defying hitmakers to start 2018.

Bebe Rexha’s easy-riding hit “Meant to Be” (ft. Florida Georgia Line) continues to dominate with 13 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, which is comprised of airplay, sales and streaming data. Rexha, Hubbard, Josh Miller, and David Garcia co-penned the PLATINUM-certified track, which is still rising through the coveted Top 10 of the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 chart. FGL is currently in the studio working on their upcoming follow-up to 2016’s PLATINUM-certified DIG YOUR ROOTS album (BMLG Records) while details of a new headlining tour are coming soon.

For more information about Florida Georgia Line, please visit floridageorgialine.com and reach out on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

ABOUT FLORIDA GEORGIA LINE: Redefining what’s possible in Country music, global superstars Florida Georgia Line continue to push full-throttle into uncharted territories with history-making collaborations, fresh entrepreneurial ventures and bold new music while currently in the studio.
