Gretchen Wilson Makes First Radio Appearance Since Last Week’s Arrest

Gretchen Wilson stopped by the Big D and Bubba show to introduce their audience to Jessie G, who is signed to Gretchen’s label Redneck Records.

Big D asked her early in the interview to talk a little about what happened in Connecticut last week.

“Everything I’ve read so far is not true,” said Wilson.  “In my opinion, it was a big misunderstanding.”

Despite her ‘Redneck’ image, Gretchen explains that this was the first time she’s ever been arrested. “I was completely shocked and  sad… and just flabbergasted.”

In her first national radio appearance, Jessie G later performed her single, “Army Ranger,” with Gretchen providing background vocals.

Bobby Bones Launches “Women of iHeart Country”

This Labor Day weekend, Bobby Bones and iHeartMedia will launch Women of iHeartCountry,” an hour-long, weekend program devoted exclusively to female artists. Executive produced and hosted by Bones, along with co-host Amy Brown, the show will feature music from both established female artists and promising up-and-comers, with weekly guest appearances by other iHeartMedia female on-air personalities. Listeners can tune-in to the show on 125 iHeartCountry stations nation-wide beginning Saturday (check local listings), as well as on the iHeartRadio app. Recognized as “influential” (USA Todayand as a “tastemaker” (Yahoo), Bones continues to champion new and established artists alike, and will reveal details about the inaugural show with special guest Danielle Bradbery on Instagram.

Dubbed “The most powerful man in country music” (Forbes), Bobby Bones is an unstoppable force who continues to create opportunities for the artists and music he believes in.

“This weekend show is another example of iHeartCountry stations and program directors providing platforms that support female artists and voices,” said Rod Phillips, SVP of Programming, iHeartCountry. “Women of iHeartCountry is an extension of efforts like our On The Verge program where we have shined a spotlight on artists such as Cam, Carly Pearce, Maren Morris and Lauren Alaina as future stars in the Country format.”

“Like the trailblazer and best kind of rule breaker he is, Bones is taking a conversation and concern that we’ve all been having for years about needing more female voices and perspectives and heart on the radio, and making a change to fix it,” said Kelsea Ballerini. “One of the things I admire most about Bobby is the way he champions artists he believes in..male, female, duo, or group…and this is another bold way of him being a cheerleader and voice for the artists he fights for.”

“Bobby has changed our format for the better in so many ways,” added Lauren Alaina. “He has been a champion for so many people who really need someone in their corner. I am so thankful to be one of those people. I am so excited for his ‘Women of iHeartCountry’ show. There are so many amazingly talented women in our format that are going to be able to shine their light a little brighter because he believes in them. I am so proud to be a part of his new show, and I’m even more proud to be his friend. He’s a really special guy.”

“Bobby Bones is a superhero for launching a dedicated station featuring all women,” shared Deana Carter. “Wow!! What an amazing testimony and gesture of respect and chivalry. So, by definition….Bobby, you are a gallant warrior and gentleman.”

“Bobby has always been such a huge supporter of my music and of female artists on country radio,” premiere week special guest Danielle Bradbery noted. “He was one of the first people to play my new single ‘Goodbye Summer.’ Creating this incredible platform for female voices really speaks to his character. I’m so grateful that champions like Bobby and this iHeartMedia show exist.”

“Bobby is such an influential and so generously kind voice from Nashville,” Rachel Wammack continued. “I didn’t have to be in this town long to recognize that. I’m truly blessed to have his support as an artist, and I can’t wait to kick it with him throughout my career.”

“I’ve always really appreciated the support Bobby has shown me and other female artists,” Lee Ann Womack added. “I’m happy to see him continuing that with young, up-and-coming talent as well.”

The new show comes as part of Bones’ recently expanded relationship with iHeartCountry. As part of the new deal, Bones also earned the title of Vice President, Creative Director of iHeartCountry and will work with iHeartMedia on additional joint ventures and new creative programming initiatives. With a “fiercely devoted following” (Washington Post) tuning into his nationally syndicated radio show, The Bobby Bones Show broadcasts to almost 140 stations and is the #1 Country morning show with millions of listeners each week. The show recently garnered its third ACM Award for National On-Air Personality of the Year, a 2017 Country Music Association award for National Broadcast Personality of the Year and earned Bones the title of youngest ever inductee into the prestigious National Radio Hall of Fame. The “media multitasker” (Billboard) also launched his own podcast, BobbyCast, which features candid long-form interviews with top artists and industry figures and has been downloaded more than 6 million times. The podcast’s overwhelming success has paved the way for Bones to launch the Nashville Podcast Network, an eclectic collection of podcasts from a variety of Nashville-savvy hosts, giving listeners an inside look at the lifestyle and pop culture in Nashville. With his undeniable knack for recognizing and supporting new talent, Bones brought his expertise to the latest season of ABC’s American Idol as a mentor. Bones is also a two-time New York Times #1 bestselling author, touring stand-up comedian, philanthropist and chart-topping comedy artist – a true “jack of all trades” (ESPN). About CB30:

CB30, comprised of real-life brothers Christian and Brody Clementi, grew up in Nashville surrounded by music from a young age. After playing some local charity events with their father Jay Clementi, a successful songwriter, they caught the attention of country superstar Luke Bryan who introduced them to various industry contacts leading to a record deal with Buena Vista Records, a partnership between Disney Music Group and Universal Music Group Nashville. The name CB30 comes from Christian and Brody’s first initials as well as the fact they were both born on the 30th of the month, Christian’s birthday is May 30th while Brody’s is March 30th. Their young, fresh sound is built on harmony-driven country melodies with influences ranging from The Everly Brothers to Ed Sheeran. In between football and baseball games, you can often find Christian and Brody on the lake fishing and wakeboarding. CB30’s current single “Like It’s A Bad Thing,” co-written by Christian, Jay Clementi and Kevin Bard, was announced on Radio Disney Country this past April and is out now. The boys marked the occasion with their debut Stagecoach performance in Indio, Calif.
