About ALABAMA

It’s been 50 years since Jeff Cook, Teddy Gentry and Randy Owen left the cotton farms of Fort Payne, Alabama to spend the summer playing music in a Myrtle Beach, South Carolina bar called The Bowery. It’s a classic American tale of rags to riches. From humble beginnings picking cotton in the fields, to international stars that went on to sell 80 million albums, while changing the face and sound of country music. Quality songs that have become the soundtrack for American life are the foundation for ALABAMA’s stellar career. The group introduced rock style guitars, lights, pyrotechnics and sounds to the country audience that has inspired many of today’s brightest country stars including Kenny Chesney, Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan. While their music continues to stand the test of time, their numbers and stats are beyond compare. Almost five decades since starting the band, ALABAMA has charted 43 #1 singles, including 21 #1 singles in a row, and have won dozens of CMA, GRAMMY®, and ACM Awards. They are members of the Country Music Hall of Fame and have their own star of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In addition, they are world-class philanthropists who have raised millions of dollars for various charities. ALABAMA is currently on the road celebrating five decades of music on their historic “50th Anniversary Tour.”

Pandora Stories Combine The Best Of Podcasts & Playlists

Lennon and McCartney, chocolate and peanut butter, Tango & Cash…some things just go great together. That’s how we feel about music playlists and podcasts, so today we’re introducing Pandora Stories, which combine the storytelling possibilities of podcasts with the musical power of playlists.

Podcasts can tell stories about music, but generally don’t include full songs. And playlists have songs, but lack personal context from the artists behind them. Pandora Stories have arrived to fill that void.

Pandora Stories give artists and creators of all kinds – musicians, actors, filmmakers, athletes, celebs, authors, and beyond – a new way to connect with fans in an intimate and authentic way, in their own words, using the power of music.

The first collection of Pandora Stories features John Legend, Daddy Yankee, Lauren Alaina, Perry Farrell, Wes Anderson music supervisor Randall Poster, Amy Winehouse collaborator and Dap-Kings guitarist Tommy Brenneck, and a Pandora-hosted story exploring “Love Songs That Really Aren’t Love Songs,” with forthcoming stories from 2 Chainz, Rob Thomas and many more.

John Legend’s Glorious Journey

The multi-talented singer, songwriter, record producer, activist and actor tells the personal stories behind some of his greatest hits including “Glory,” “All of Me,” and brand-new single, “Preach.”

Pasito a Pasito Con Daddy Yankee

In this special Spanish-language Pandora Story, unparalleled Latin artist Daddy Yankee takes you from his early days as a breakout reggaeton star to the global phenomenon he is today, and shares some of his most amazing adventures along the way.

Lauren Alaina is Doin’ Just Fine

The country-pop songstress takes listeners from her breakout on American Idol to the release of her new album, “Ladies in the 90s,” a tribute to Whitney Houston, Britney Spears, Shania Twain, and the musical heroes of her childhood.

Perry Farrell’s Ocean-Sized Tales

Jane’s Addiction frontman and Lollapalooza co-founder Perry Farrell has spent his career on the edge of popular culture. Now, in advance of his new project, Kind Heaven Orchestra, the alt-rock luminary takes listeners on a wild ride through his musical catalogue.

Brooklyn Soul with Tommy Brenneck

Songwriter, producer and guitarist Tommy “TNT” Brenneck is the backbone of the music scene that featured the likes of Sharon Jones and Charles Bradley, and served up backing tracks for rappers like Jay-Z and Kendrick Lamar. Brenneck takes us on a journey through the soul of his funky borough.

The Music of Wes Anderson with Randall Poster

Wes Anderson’s longtime music supervisor and collaborator Randall Poster walks us through his prolific association with the acclaimed director, and shares some of his favorite musical moments from beloved films like Rushmore and Moonrise Kingdom.

Love Songs That Aren’t Really Love Songs

When is a love song not a love song? Quite often, as it turns out. If you’re putting together a romantic playlist for that certain special someone, you might want to listen closely to the lyrics in songs like “Stay with Me” and “Every Breath You Take” before you hit play.

Starting today, Pandora Premium subscribers can listen to Pandora Stories ad-free, and Pandora ad-supported and Plus listeners can do so via Premium Access after watching a 30-second ad.

Luke Combs (Photo credit: Jim Wright)

Luke Combs’ historic success continues this week with his latest single, “Beautiful Crazy,” reaching #1 on Billboard’s Country Airplay, Hot Country Songs, Country Streaming Songs and Country Digital Song Sales charts. This is his fastest rising single to date (16 weeks) and makes Combs the first artist ever to send his first five singles to the top of Billboard’s Country Airplay chart. “Beautiful Crazy” is also the first country single shipped to radio already platinum-certified since Taylor Swift’s “Red” in 2013 and has more than 250 million on-demand streams. In celebration of these milestones, Combs recently released an acoustic version of the song. Listen/share HERE.

The achievements continue an already monumental year for the breakthrough singer, songwriter and performer, who was recently nominated for two 2019 ACM Awards (Male Artist of the Year and New Male Artist of the Year), won New Artist of the Year at the 52nd Annual CMA Awards, was nominated for Best New Artist at the 61st GRAMMY Awards and was the recipient of a CMA Triple Play Award for writing three #1 songs in a 12 month period.

Combs’ platinum-certified debut album, This One’s For You (River House Artists/Columbia Nashville), has spent a total of 26 non-consecutive weeks at #1 on the Billboard Country Albums chart, including 16 weeks in 2018—making it the highest selling country album last year with 1.1 million equivalent album units sold and the only country album to surpass 1 million album units. It’s also the most-streamed country album of 2019 so far.

In continued support of the album, Combs is currently in the midst of his sold-out “Beer Never Broke My Heart Tour”—his first ever headline arena tour. Upcoming stops include New York’s Manhattan Center Hammerstein Ballroom, Morrison’s Red Rocks Amphitheater, Detroit’s DTE Energy Music Theatre and Charlotte’s PNC Music Pavilion among several others.
