Trace Adkins and Jimmy Fortune

Trace Adkins, T. Graham Brown, Jimmy Fortune and Marty Raybon join together on the new charity video, “Working On A Building,” the title-track from the New Haven Records compilation helping to raise awareness for International Cooperating Ministries (ICM).

Shot by Emmy, Addy and Telly Award-winning director Stan Moore of MP Films, the concept clip features all four music legends in the studio singing the gospel standard intercut with time-lapse scenes of a church being erected in a third-world country. New Haven Records President Ken Harding comments, “The Working On A Building CD project not only embodies great vocal performances by some renowned country artists, but it helps raise awareness for International Cooperating Ministries (ICM), a non-profit foundation that has constructed nearly 4,000 churches, orphanages, and schools in more than 50 countries supporting more than 20,000 congregations over the past 25 years.” To find out more about ICM, please visit: www.icm.org.

“The Journey Home: A Soldier’s Story” To Debut Nov. 7 on Great American Country

The Journey Home: A Soldier's Storyd corlew films’ “The Journey Home: A Soldier’s Story” is set to make its national television premiere on Wednesday, Nov. 7, on Great American Country (GAC).

The compelling documentary follows the lives of several U.S. Army and Marine veterans as they return home from the combat zones of Iraq and Afghanistan to find a new set of challenges awaiting them: rehabilitation from lasting physical and emotional injuries and re-integration into civilian life as they search for a new future.  Watch a trailer for the program here.

Directed and produced by David Corlew, the veteran filmmaker enlisted writer/co-producer Tim Weeks and editor/director of photography Nathan Shuppert to help bring the patriotic documentary to life.  Country music legend Charlie Daniels hosts and narrates the program, which includes exclusive interviews with friends and family of the returning veterans.  The film also features also a special appearance by Major General Terry “Max” Haston, Adjutant General of the Tennessee National Guard.

Big & Rich To Receive CRS 2013 Artist Humanitarian Award

Big and RichWarner Music Nashville duo Big & Rich has been announced as the recipient of the CRS 2013 Artist Humanitarian Award, to be presented at Country Radio Seminar on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013.

Big & Rich’s charitable endeavors date back more than a decade and are too numerous to mention individually. Their humanitarian efforts have ranged from visiting individual patients in hospitals, to staging benefit concerts for the Country Music Hall of Fame and the 173rd Airborne Memorial, to their well-documented U.S. and international outreach.  The duo has made a point throughout their career to help underprivileged children and families in struggling countries like Uganda, Sudan, Haiti and Kenya, among others.

GRAMMY-nominated Republic Nashville trio The Band Perry has already laid a strong foundation for their new single, “Better Dig Two,” among fans and critics alike. Immediately following their knockout performance at last Thursday’s (11/1) CMA Awards, the edgy tune began trending nationwide on Twitter’s Top 10. “Better Dig Two” quickly catapulted into the iTunes Country Singles Chart Top 10 before nailing the #1 spot and locking in the #3 position on the Overall Top Singles Chart with sales soaring to over 82,000 copies sold in the first week. “Better Dig Two” was the most added at Country radio according to both Country Aircheck/Mediabase and Billboard with a total of 93 monitored stations on by add date. The sibling trio’s latest offering will be featured on their forthcoming sophomore album on Republic Nashville, slated for release in April 2013.

Legendary guitarist, songwriter, producer and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Steve Cropper joined Phil Vassar and his band for a little pre-game Blues and Rock on the Tennessee Titans Party Stage at LP Field in Nashville yesterday. Fans were treated to his iconic songs like “(Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay,” “Knock On Wood,” “In The Midnight Hour” and more.

The Country Music Association presented Scott Borchetta, President and CEO of Big Machine Label Group, with the Jo Walker-Meador Award Wednesday during the Association’s International Media Reception leading up to “The 46th Annual CMA Awards.”

Named for Country Music Hall of Fame member and longtime executive director of CMA – Jo Walker-Meador – the award recognizes outstanding achievement by an individual or company in advocating and supporting Country Music’s marketing development in territories outside the United States. The award was presented by Walker-Meador and Steve Moore, the Chief Executive Officer of CMA.

Tom T. Hall Recognized As BMI Icon At 60th Annual BMI Country Awards

Country Songs Make Up Half of Most-Performed Songs in 2011 from BMI Catalogue

BMI Country AwardsBroadcast Music, Inc. (BMI), the global leader in music rights management, honored its Country Songwriter, Song and Publisher of the Year at the 60th annual BMI Country Awards held at the company’s Nashville, TN building. Also saluted were the writers and publishers of the past year’s 50 most-performed songs on radio and TV from BMI’s country repertoire. In addition, the incredible songwriting career of Tom T. Hall was celebrated by naming him a BMI Icon.

Hall joins other BMI Icons who have had “a unique and indelible influence on generations of music makers” including Billy Sherrill, John Fogerty, Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson, Isaac Hayes, Merle Haggard, Brian Wilson, Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, the Bee Gees, Bobby Braddock, Bill Anderson, Ray Davies, James Brown and more.

10 of the top 20 most-performed works in the U.S. from BMI’s repertoire were country songs in 2011, accounting for more than 11 million radio and TV performances alone. If each performance were played back to back, the total time spent listening would be the equivalent of 66 consecutive years, underscoring the staggering volume of country music represented by BMI on the airwaves. Country music has achieved overwhelming success in the mainstream marketplace, and claims more terrestrial radio towers than any other format in the U.S.
