April 17, 2013 – The Ram Truck brand is celebrating the end of its successful “Road to the Ram® Jam” all-star country music series which raised a total of $181,731 for charities with the auction of each participating artist’s Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn truck. The series concluded with Easton Corbin’s truck raising $37,101 for the Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund, which honors Americans in our Armed Forces who have sacrificed life or limb defending our country by awarding college scholarships to their children.

As a part of the Road to the Ram Jam series, five participating country music artists – Kellie Pickler, Brantley Gilbert, Billy Currington, Zac Brown Band, and Easton Corbin – received a one-year lease on a 2012 Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn truck. The trucks were auctioned off, one at a time, beginning in late January with all proceeds benefiting a charity of each artist’s choice. Fans had two weeks to bid on each artist’s truck. Gypsy Runaway Train Puts The Roys On Fast Track

THE ROYS latest full-length release, GYPSY RUNAWAY TRAIN, puts the award- winning sibling duo on the fast track.  Due in stores on June 4, their third outing for Rural Rhythm Records contains six Roys’ originals and some of their all-time favorite Bluegrass and Country classics.  Hot vocals, steamin’ pickin’, unbridled enthusiasm and passion make this 13-track wonder a celebration of the Roots genre.  Says Elaine Roy, “There was a real sense of freedom surrounding this whole project.  The album strips away all pretenses and gives the listener a glimpse of both the highs and lows of life.”

Recorded following the death of Lee’s beloved father-in-law and during Elaine’s painful divorce, the songs indeed address a broad spectrum of emotion.  For Lee, the entire process was cathartic.  “I wrote ‘Another Minute’ about my Grandpa,” he notes.  “But it makes you think about all kinds of loss.  Putting those feelings out there in a song makes it easier to live with them.”

Amber Hayes Releases New Single, “Any Day Is A Good Day”

Amber Hayes
A-OK Entertainment/GMV Nashville recording artist Amber Hayes has released her new single, “Any Day Is A Good Day” to Country radio.
The single is the first release off her new album, Any Day Is A Good Day, and is produced by Nashville-based producer Paul Compton. The song was co-written by Hayes, Bill DiLuigi and JP Williams.
“I was excited about this song from the moment we wrote it,” said Hayes.  “It has such an encouraging message and people have been very responsive to the song’s optimism and brightness. Its uplifting in all the right ways.”

Robert Oermann (MusicRow Magazine) commented about the track, “Simply lovely. Her sweetly wistful singing voice is perfectly framed by an airy production and pristinely placed harmony vocals. Plus, it has a message to warm your soul. I could definitely get used to listening to this wafting through the radio speakers.”

Tate Stevens’ Hometown Honors Him On Water Tower

Syco/RCA Nashville recording artist Tate Stevens is experiencing a lot of firsts this year following his first place finish on FOX’s The X Factor, including landing a record deal, releasing new single “Power of a Love Song” to country radio, and his upcoming April 23 self-titled debut album release.  Now Stevens can claim a new “first” as his hometown honors him with an impressive 160′ City of Belton water tower, freshly painted with “Home of Tate Stevens, Live the Dream!”

Stevens, a former blue collar road worker for the city, always displayed such appreciation for his small hometown while pursuing his life-long dream of becoming a country music star on The X Factor.  Viewers were captivated by this unassuming Southern gentleman with the powerhouse vocals.  Among those viewers was a contingent of Belton residents, who led the charge to raise 100% the funds for the water tower repainting and dedication.

Lady Antebellum Hits #1 in Record Time

Earning their fastest charting and seventh career No. one single this week, GRAMMY winning country trio Lady Antebellum’s “Downtown” takes the top position on both the Billboard and Mediabase charts while simultaneously selling more than 500,000 digital downloads. “Downtown” also spent the last two weeks at No. one in Canada and is the lead single off the group’s upcoming fourth studio album GOLDEN, available in stores May 7.

“Most of what the world has seen from Hillary from a radio single standpoint is this very sweet kind of style like ‘American Honey,’” said Lady A’s Charles Kelley. “But, she’s got a lot of sass and a lot of grit to her voice, too, so it’s been really fun to bring that out of her and have this kind of support from our fans and radio.” Continue Reading →

Tin Pan South 2013

Tin Pan South

Five days. Ten Venues. Over 400 songwriters. NSAI’s Tin Pan South is the WORLD’s largest all-songwriter festival, and just wrapped up its 21st year. Over 9,000 fans attend the event annually to hear some of the greatest songs ever written, performed by the people that wrote them.

In the last couple years, NSAI (Nashville Songwriters Association International) has gotten a prominent figure in country music to perform the first night (mainly because he or she has to fly out to Vegas for ACM week shortly thereafter). This year The Listening Room Café featured Jake Owen at the early show, and Charles Kelly from Lady Antebellum for the late show. I missed Charles so I could go see “Celebrating ABC’s Nashville” at 3rd and Lindsley (more on that later).

The round with Jake Owen also featured Brandy Clark (“Somewhere With You,” “Alone With You”), Josh Osbourne (“Come Over,” Merry Go ‘Round”), and Eric Paslay (“Barefoot Blue Jean Night,” “Even If It Breaks Your Heart”) who was filling in for the sick Shane McAnally. You can see how rounds like this are so fun to watch. Songwriters are constantly collaborating, and this bunch seems to be pretty well connected. Not to mention… Jake Owen was there.
