Katie Armiger’s Black Dress Inducted Into Hard Rock Memorabilia Collection

Country artist Katie Armiger donated her infamous black dress to the Hard Rock Cafe in Las Vegas on Wednesday, May 22nd. Armiger wore the black dress on the historic Opry stage in August 2012, the night her “Better In A Black Dress” music video went #1 on GAC’s Top 20 Countdown.

“I am a longtime fan of Hard Rock Cafe,” said Armiger.  “Ever since I was little girl I can remember visiting the restaurants around the country and admiring the eclectic array of memorabilia that graced the walls.  Being asked to include one of my dresses to display alongside all of the superstars of music for thousands of people to see at such a well-respected franchise is such a great honor.”

RPM Entertainment’s Maggie Rose has pulled the heartstrings of many country music fans with her new chart-topping single “Better,” found on her debut album Cut To Impress. The music video can be seen online exclusively at CountryWeekly.com before it hits the video networks later in the week.

Filmed at two locations in Nashville, TN, one being the once home of Nashville’s mayor during the Civil War, the video was produced by Yeah Yeah Creative and takes the viewer on a journey of healing.  The song lyrics  (I just want to move on/ with my life/ put the pieces back together/ I just want to feel better) lend themselves to many different interpretations, so Rose and her creative team decided to play on the ambiguity while creating the video concept.

Country music singer/songwriter Corey Smith will perform during the 2013 CMA Music Festival on Saturday, June 8 at 4:20 PM on the Chevrolet Riverfront Stage along the banks of the Cumberland River in downtown Nashville. The Chevrolet Riverfront Stage is free and open to the public.

The activities happening during CMA Music Festival week have always been about the fans, so in that spirit, Smith is offering a once-in-a-lifetime special event for three hopeful songwriters. In partnership with BandPage and AXS-TV, Smith has developed an exclusive songwriting clinic that will take place in Nashville on Friday, June 7. To be considered, non-professional songwriters can submit one song, either through a YouTube or Soundcloud link, at the clinic’s official BandPage site: http://bit.ly/14O5NtI, along with a brief explanation of what they would like to learn if they are selected to participate in the songwriting clinic. Blood:Water Mission hosts intimate house concert in Nashville

Grammy award-winning Little Big Town recently took the stage at Rolling Hills Farm in Franklin, TN in an effort to raise money for Blood:Water Mission, a local non-profit committed to empowering communities to work together against the HIV/AIDS and water crises in Africa.

This event is the second house concert that Little Big Town has performed for Blood:Water Mission, drawing an impressive crowd on both occasions. From government officials to sports superstars, support of Blood:Water Mission has crossed multiple societal thresholds. George Strait’s “Love Is Everything” Debuts At No. 1 On Billboard Country Albums Chart

Love Is Everything, the new album from MCA Nashville recording artist George Strait, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums Chart this week, selling 119,843 units in its first week. That also earned Strait the No. 2 position on the Billboard Top 200. The album contains the hit single “Give It All We Got Tonight,” which Mediabase named as the most played song on country radio this week, earning Strait an unprecedented 60th No. 1 song. Love Is Everything is Strait’s 40th studio album.

“This has been a fantastic birthday week,” said Strait, who turned 61 last Saturday (May 18). “I’m thankful that my fans are excited about the new album and enjoying the music.”

Music City Center Grand Opening

We may have gotten a sneak peek at the new Music City Center last Wednesday, but the real party started earlier this week! Sunday included a walk with Mayor Karl Dean around the new $585 million structure, a free open house and live music from Ten out of Tenn and Phil Vassar. Monday activities involved a ribbon-cutting ceremony and Grand Opening Concert featuring the Fisk Jubilee SingersThe Time Jumpers with Vince Gill, Mikky Ekko and Sheryl Crow! Additionally, Mayor Dean presented his State of Metro address Monday morning.

Mayor Karl Dean Gives Sneak Peek Of Massive Music City Center

Perhaps you’ve noticed there has been some construction going on in downtown Nashville… That will all come to fruition next week as the extravagant Music City Center opens its doors. Upon touring this massive, yet beautifully artistic Nashville centerpiece, one can’t help but frequently gaze around in awe.

Mayor Karl Dean gave a sneak peek of the new convention center to the media on Wednesday, noticeably proud of the biggest municipal project in Tennessee history. From the 6,000-person Grand Ballroom modeled after the inside of a guitar to the $2 million art budget, the Music City Center is sure to impress and deliver grand results for the city.

A point emphasized on Mayor Dean’s tour was that this building has not been built with an “if you build it, they will come” frame of mind. To the contrary, this was a necessary step, because they’re already coming.
