Country Music Blog Rodeo: Remember When Country Wasn’t So Cool?

Country Music Blog RodeoI remember when country wasn’t considered so cool. In fact, I was one of them that couldn’t listen to “that twangy stuff”. Obviously, I’ve come to love the genre now, but even I didn’t always think it was so cool.

The new video, produced and directed by country singer/actress Laura Bell Bundy and featuring guest appearances by Nadya “Octomom” Suleman and comedian Two-Foot Fred, will run in rotation with other Cledus classic videos every hour for 25 hours. This premiere also marks the first music/comedy feature on CMT’s new artist platform which provides fans a central place to connect with artists they love! “Honeymoon,” the second release and music video from his tenth studio album, Pardoyziac!!, is a parody of Little Big Town’s No. 1 hit song “Pontoon.” The video stars Suleman as Cledus’ bride in his version of a redneck wedding and “Dollywood” honeymoon. “It was so cool working with Nadya Suleman!” said Cledus. “I didn’t know what to expect when she signed on but she was awesome! Some paparazzi asked me if we were romantically linked. I politely told the guy, ‘I can hardly pay my child support on the one I got much less 14 other little ones!’ I think that shut him up. Although she does have smokin’ hot lips! Probably be worth it.”

Album Review: ‘Faster Than A Bullet’ By Plumb

Plumb

What can I say except that from the moment I first heard Plumb I found her music mesmerizing.  Beautiful, strong, almost otherworldly voice matched with songs that touch you deep inside and move you.  You’ll hear lots of string instruments mixed with her signature keyboard-driven music.  Sometimes dark, slightly-edgy, poetic, and melodic songs that are a mix of radio-friendly pop & alternative rock.   Her music always moves me.  I think Plumb is one of the most talented artists out there and highly-underated.  She should be winning GRAMMY’s for her music. Album Review: Maggie Rose’s ‘Cut To Impress’

Just received an advance copy of Maggie Rose’s debut album on RPM Entertainment entitled ‘Cut To Impress‘ produced by Blake Chancey, Stephony Smith, and James Stroud.  The most recent single “I Ain’t Your Mama” (a playful, mid-tempo, female anthem) was released earlier this year to country radio and had some success by landing in the top 30.  I had hoped it would climb higher for this extremely-talented artist whose career I have followed since she went by Margaret Durante about a year and a half ago when she underwent a bit of an image revamp taking her from the blondish/brown longhaired “girl next door” to the short, playful platinum blonde bombshell image of the “girl next door” gone slightly bad (although, just between you and I, she’s not really bad at all, but a real sweetheart) and all grown up.  Just a fun image revamp to relaunch her as an artist; showing some growth and branding as an artist.  Yes, I said branding because as an artist they are also a brand.    Continue Reading →

The two artists shared with Holt their experiences over the years performing for patients in healthcare facilities and the influence it has on them personally to witness the visible affect music has on these patients.  Weighing in on the advantages of having Musicians On Call in their hospital was Dr. Elisabeth M. Dykens, Professor of Psychology and Human Development and Director of the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center for Research on Human Development, who can personally attest to the patient benefits achieved through music.  Continue Reading →
