One area that we have been wanting to stretch out FOCUS on the 615 to is to focus on community service events and outstanding leaders actively making a difference within the Nashville community. One who stands out as an example of someone who is actively trying to make a strong difference in our community is Mary Littleton.
Mary Littleton is not only a well-respected lawyer in our community, but she serves on several boards of non-profit organizations. Most notably, she gives of her time and serves on the board of the local chapter of the MS Society. Mary is a strong MS advocate fighting for the rights of people living with this disease, volunteering her time by serving countless hours as a board member to ensure the continued success of the MS Society in our community, actively participating in MS fundraising events and is an MS patient herself.
One such fundraising event that she participated in was the recent MS Challenge Walk that took place in Charleston, SC on March 1-3, 2013. This was a challenging event, to say the least, with each participant being asked to raise a minimum of $1,500 and walking 50 miles in the span of 3 days. Not an easy physical task for anyone, especially someone who has MS. Mary went far and above raising over $10,000 herself for the cause and completing all 50 miles of this very challenging walk through the city of Charleston.
Because of all her efforts to raise awareness, money, giving of her time and rising to meet this most recent challenge, we have chosen to pick her to spotlight as an outstanding community leader within Nashville AKA the 615. Thank you, Mary Littleton, for your efforts to help make our city a better place and your strong support of non-profit work across Nashville!
