Music Row friends and family packed The Basement East to celebrate the team behind the ACM Awards Song of the Year nominated Keith Urban hit single, “Blue Ain’t Your Color.” The tune marked eighteenth chart-topper for songwriter Hillary Lindsey and the second for co-writer Clint Lagerberg, while songwriter-artist Steven Lee Olsen celebrated his very first #1 song. Lindsey is also nominated for the ACM’s Songwriter of the Year award, while Urban is up for ACM awards in four additional categories: Entertainer, Male Vocalist, Album and Single of the Year.

The celebration kicked off with a live performance of “Blue Ain’t Your Color” by Urban, the songwriters and producer/guitarist Dann Huff, followed by a long line of music industry well-wishers who took to the mic to offer their congratulations, including publishers BMG’s Daniel Lee, Cornman Music’s Nate Lowery, Sea Gayle Music’s Marc Driskill, Spirit Music’s Daniel Hill and Warner/Chappell’s Ben Vaughn; and Urban’s label home Capitol/UMG Nashville’s Mike Dungan. Hosted by ASCAP’s Mike Sistad and Beth Brinker, the party was sponsored in part by First Tennessee Bank.

With six career GRAMMY nominations and now her second Academy of Country Music Award nomination–“Song of the Year” for Miranda Lambert’s hit “Mama’s Broken Heart” alongside Kacey Musgraves and Shane McAnally and “New Female Vocalist Of The Year” in 2017–acclaimed singer/songwriter Brandy Clark’s many accolades are not only a personal milestone, but a testament to the admiration she has earned from fans and critics alike.
Clark’s critically acclaimed sophomore album, Big Day in a Small Town (Warner Bros Records), debuted in the Top 10 of Billboard‘s Top Country Albums chart. The Jay-Joyce-produced album garnered national praise landing on more than 10 “Best of 2016” lists from publications such as NPR, TIME, Billboard and Rolling Stone and the Wall Street Journal. Big Day is the “cousin” to Clark’s widely-revered debut 12 Stories which was released in 2013 on independent label Slate Creek Records and garnered Clark two 2015 GRAMMY nominations for “Country Album of the Year” and “Best New Artist” (all-genre). 12 Stories was featured on “Best of” lists from New York Magazine, NPR, Rolling Stone, The New Yorker, New York Post and The Boston Globe in 2013. That same year, Los Angeles Times called it “the country debut of the year.”

Clark has toured with artists including Eric Church and Jennifer Nettles, opened for Loretta Lynn at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville and toured with Alan Jackson on his 25th Anniversary Tour in 2015. A prolific songwriter, Clark pens her own songs, and has co-written Miranda Lambert’s No. 1 hit “Mama’s Broken Heart,” The Band Perry’s No. 1 hit “Better Dig Two,” Toby Keith’s smash “Drunk Americans,” and songs recorded by Sheryl Crow, Reba McEntire, Craig Morgan, Kacey Musgraves, LeAnn Rimes, Darius Rucker, Keith Urban, Gretchen Wilson and additional artists.
Currently in the midst of a U.S. tour, Brandy will launch a special 20+ city trek on April 6 with label-mate Charlie Worsham titled An Evening with Brandy Clark & Charlie Worsham. See all dates below.
