Album Review: Eric Church | ‘The Outsiders’

Eric ChurchWell, it’s taken me a bit to get to this album review for Eric Church‘s ‘The Outsiders‘, but I’m finally getting around to it.

There’s probably not a lot that I can say about this album that hasn’t already been said.  This newest release from Eric Church includes 12 tracks and was produced by Jay Joyce.  I’m going to describe it in a word: BRILLIANT.  Church is not afraid to take risks with his music, which is what I love about him.  It’s unpredictable, and it’s a refreshing escape from the norm that seems to be flooding the radio airwaves lately.

The title track very much has rock elements infused throughout.  I love it.  It’s different.  It rocks, actually.  It’s not about a truck, it’s not about beer, it’s not about girls.  Quite honestly, those are far too much of common themes in country music these days.  I need something else in my music, you know? “Roller Coaster” has a very cool vibe to it, and who hasn’t been on a roller coaster ride in some of their relationships? My favorite song off the album is his newest #1 hit: “Give Me Back My Hometown”.  Instantly, this mid tempo anthem will grab you.  Very easy to see why it’s a hit.

Simply put, this album is a refreshing risk from Eric Church and worth every penny.  Well done, sir, well done.

Rated 5 out of 5 stars.
