Country Music Stars Step Up To The Plate Against Cancer At The City Of Hope Celebrity Softball Challenge

One in three women and one in two men will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetimes. During the 2013 CMA Music Festival, a star-studded roster of Country Music’s hottest performers and personalities will join forces to help strike out the disease. Stars including Scotty McCreery, Lauren Alaina, Florida Georgia Line, Craig Campbell, Greg Bates, Chuck Wicks and Olympic figure skating champion Scott Hamilton will join cancer survivors to participate in City of Hope’s 23rd annual Celebrity Softball Challenge presented by Staples. Emceed by Storme Warren, host of GAC’s “Headline Country,” the event will pit longtime rival teams Grand Ole Opry and “After MidNite with Blair Garner” against each other on Saturday, June 8, at 9 a.m. at Greer Stadium. Tickets are now available at www.ticketmaster.com.

“It’s always good to go out there and get a big win for Country Music in the fight against cancer,” said Pete Fisher, vice president and general manager, Grand Ole Opry. “We’re thankful to City of Hope for its incredible work in cancer research, and know we will live up to the challenge this year. Fourth Annual “Darius And Friends” Concert Monday, Jun 3 at Wildhorse Saloon

Luke Bryan, Sam Bush, John Cowan, Radney Foster, Randy Houser, Dustin Lynch and Justin Moore will join Platinum-selling Capitol Nashville recording artist Darius Rucker for his sold-out, fourth annual “Darius And Friends” benefit concert on Monday, June 3 at the Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville, Tenn. Proceeds from the event go directly to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

“I always look forward to this event each year, and I’m so happy to have Luke, Sam, John, Randy, Dustin, Justin, and of course my hero, Radney, join me to help raise funds for St. Jude,” said Rucker. “A few years ago I visited the St. Jude campus in Memphis and instantly became a ‘true believer’ in everyone there and the work they do to help treat kids and cure disease. I am happy to help raise funds for such a worthwhile cause and thrilled that some of my friends can join me.”

Katie Armiger’s Black Dress Inducted Into Hard Rock Memorabilia Collection

Country artist Katie Armiger donated her infamous black dress to the Hard Rock Cafe in Las Vegas on Wednesday, May 22nd. Armiger wore the black dress on the historic Opry stage in August 2012, the night her “Better In A Black Dress” music video went #1 on GAC’s Top 20 Countdown.

“I am a longtime fan of Hard Rock Cafe,” said Armiger.  “Ever since I was little girl I can remember visiting the restaurants around the country and admiring the eclectic array of memorabilia that graced the walls.  Being asked to include one of my dresses to display alongside all of the superstars of music for thousands of people to see at such a well-respected franchise is such a great honor.”

RPM Entertainment’s Maggie Rose has pulled the heartstrings of many country music fans with her new chart-topping single “Better,” found on her debut album Cut To Impress. The music video can be seen online exclusively at CountryWeekly.com before it hits the video networks later in the week.

Filmed at two locations in Nashville, TN, one being the once home of Nashville’s mayor during the Civil War, the video was produced by Yeah Yeah Creative and takes the viewer on a journey of healing.  The song lyrics  (I just want to move on/ with my life/ put the pieces back together/ I just want to feel better) lend themselves to many different interpretations, so Rose and her creative team decided to play on the ambiguity while creating the video concept.

“One piece at a time,” The Johnny Cash Museum (JCM) has culminated into an amazing celebration of The Man in Black. JCM will celebrate its Grand Opening with a day full of prizes and limited time offers to fans and patrons on Thursday, May 30th. Located at 119 Third Avenue South between Demonbreun and Broadway, the museum is en route between the tourist circulated Broadway strip and the Country Music Hall of Fame and Schermerhorn Symphony Center.

Founder, Bill Miller says the museum is the culmination of a lifelong dream. “I became a Johnny Cash fan of at the age of nine in 1969. I collected everything relating to him I could get my hands on. As time went on, I met Johnny many times and we became close friends. Over the years, he and many of his friends and associates contributed to the collection and I scoured the world for important pieces. This museum is our tribute to the greatest man I’ve ever known.”

CMA Music Festival | Little Big Town To Host Summer’s Biggest Concert Event

“It’s an incredible honor to be hosting this year’s CMA Fest,” said Karen Fairchild of Little Big Town. “We could not be more excited about the party that’s going to break out at LP Field every night!”

Little Big Town members Fairchild, Phillip Sweet, Kimberly Schlapman, and Jimi Westbrook first entered the music scene more than 13 years ago with hits such as “Boondocks,” “Bring It On Home,” “Good As Gone,” and the Grammy-nominated single “Little White Church.” The quartet’s fifth studio album Tornado was released on Sept. 11, 2012 and debuted at the top of the Billboard Country Chart where it stayed in the No. 1 position for five consecutive weeks. Country music singer/songwriter Corey Smith will perform during the 2013 CMA Music Festival on Saturday, June 8 at 4:20 PM on the Chevrolet Riverfront Stage along the banks of the Cumberland River in downtown Nashville. The Chevrolet Riverfront Stage is free and open to the public.

The activities happening during CMA Music Festival week have always been about the fans, so in that spirit, Smith is offering a once-in-a-lifetime special event for three hopeful songwriters. In partnership with BandPage and AXS-TV, Smith has developed an exclusive songwriting clinic that will take place in Nashville on Friday, June 7. To be considered, non-professional songwriters can submit one song, either through a YouTube or Soundcloud link, at the clinic’s official BandPage site: http://bit.ly/14O5NtI, along with a brief explanation of what they would like to learn if they are selected to participate in the songwriting clinic. Songwriters must be legal residents of the United States, at least 16 years old, and have a BandPage account.
